Android 4.4 KitKat is official now, one of the major update for android operating system. With the previous release of android 4.3 jelly bean, Sony officially announced that whole Xperia Z family will get android 4.3 jelly bean including Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR, Tablet Z and Xperia SP, while some phones will be directly updated to android 4.3 jelly bean from android 4.12 ( names has not been disclosed yet ).

With Android 4.4 in front line, next most important question is which Xperia handsets will get android 4.4 KitKat update and when ? Some official wording has come from Sony on this now.

[ Android 4.4 KitKat UPDATE – 7 November ]

Sony Mobile has tweeted regarding their plans for android 4.3 and android 4.4 KitKat.

Sony Mobile made a tweet…

re. #Android @KitKat, we’re excited – next week our news on: 4.3, 4.4; products & more… #SonyXperia

Above tweet clearly says that Xperia users will get a solid info on the android 4.4 KitKat and android 4.3 update for them. Hopefully Sony will tell the approx. timing of rolling update and the phones getting it.

Android 4.4 includes “Project Svelte ” which is an effort by Google to run android 4.4 KitKat even on low memory devices with 512 MB RAM, so can we also expect it on low end Xperia handsets.

Let us know what do you think, which Xperia handsets will get now android 4.4 KitKat update and should Sony skip android 4.3 now ? Drop your comments below…

I Think Sony Skip Android 4.3 For Z1 & Will Update This Super Smartphone Directly To Android 4.4 Kit-Kat !

If sony will follow what android management aims (focusing on low budget and low specs phones), i thinks they will roll out kitkat from xperia miro to higher specs phones.

Very good marketing strategy for both companies -nestle and google

Android kitkat is designed to work on low RAM so there’s no excuse for Sony not to update the Arc/s and the other 2011 Xperias. RAM is no longer a limiting factor

When and how do I upgrade to the 4.4 version? Is it done automatically? I have a Z1 and would like to update my phone…

To all the people who have the LOW END Xperias… Don’t forget it’s a LOW END. Xperia Arc and all those 1GHz single core processor phones with 512 will NEVER get an Android version over 4.0 or 4.1…. Imagine you own a smartphone company and you made a LOW-END device, surely you’d want to give your customers the lastest updates, but then, you can’t forget that it’s a LOW-END device which has LOW specifications – Updating the device would make the performance bad, you’d get people frustrated with their phone and they would get mad at you, even If you try and try and try but you just can’t make the lastest software not lag. So why don’t all of you with a LOW-END Xperia go save your money for a longer time and when you get that big bunch of money you could go buy a HIGH-END XPERIA. So STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT NOT GETTING THE LASTEST SOFTWARE UPDATE, YOUR PHONE IS MEANT TO BE USED TO CALL NOT TO BE USED FOR CHASING THE COMPANY WHO MADE THE PHONE FOR THE LASTEST UPDATES, IT’S ALSO YOUR FAULT FOR NOT BEING PATIENT ENOUGH TO SAVEW ENOUGH MONEY TO BUY A HIGHER END PHONE. YOU GOD DAMN GREEDY PEOPLE!!!

What do you mean by Saying Low-End Xperias??
      Do you think buying a 30K Xperia S is a Low-End Smartphone?
Are you insulting all the Xperia S holders?
      Do you work for Sony?

Plz Don’t take it personally….but plz answer the queries?
