Sony finally rolled out much awaited android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 firmware update on both Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra, though it’s a nice update with some cool “Xperia Themes”, smooth UI and improved camera functionality still users are facing many bugs on it. Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra users are reporting to us many bugs which we will discuss in this post later. First let me answer your question, is the next update for Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra due soon ? Yes it is.
Just now we found that android 4.3 14.2.A.1.XXX firmware update will soon hit Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra as a big fixing update over previous android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 firmware update. At present 14.2.A.1.XXX firmware is in testing, most likely to come very soon but we can’t 100% confirm that the same build will be rolled out, it may happen that a higher build to 14.2.A.1.XXX firmware will be rolled out ( if something changes during testing ).

Let’s talk about bugs faced by many users in Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 firmware update.
- Many users are getting this error when you navigate to “Sound enhancements -> Settings”, it shows “Unfortunately, Sound enhancements has stopped.”
- Battery backup on standby mode has decreased a lot now.
- RAM consumption has increased after this update.
- For some importing contacts have become an issue.
- Yellow hue issue still present, though UI of new themes are more white but on stock themes it is still yellowish.
- Noise in camera pics have reduced but it is still present.
- Touchscreen issues, screen is not responding well on Xperia Z1, it seems a hardware issue though who knows a software update may fix it 😛
Factory resetting has fixed some bugs not all.
Another thing it was mentioned Sony Support official staff member that an update is due in Jan 2014 for Xperia Z1 where we will see the “White Balance app” settings finally.
Though a solution for yellow hue issue is available temporary, you can install White Balance app on your rooted Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra devices.

On 4.3, the sound quality of walkman and speaker has decreased a lot. I think it’s really bug.
fix the audio quality, the battery life, fix over ram and add white balance please.
I’m Italian and still nothing for my z1 c6903 as maii??
After updated to 4.3, my bluetooth device will disconnect & reconnect when Walkman is not playing MP3. Also, the sound effect issue still there, it keep to change itself suddenly
Bug in systemUI:
– When swich on 3G so signal icon will move to right for space of 3G icon
– But when swich off 3G, signal icon doesn’t move back to the left so have a blank space in the left of signal icon

when applying the downloadable themes, i can’t change the lockscreen wallpaper from the album. i can though if i will use xperia themes. please fix. thanks.
In 4.3 i cant See logos nfc. And stamina. When switch. On
movie app force close… battery drain very fast.. z1 needs apps2sd feature… when it has only 16 Gb… phone gets heat very fast….

After flashing 4.3, I cannot activate Bluetooth. Same on an other Z1 of a Friend.
Music and movies no longer throw to tv since update. Tried to set up many times but throw icon no longer appears. Can only get it to work by making phone a media server and even then it comes up video could not be played!! It all worked so beautifully and simply before:(

4.3 is a big disappointment, battery life has reduced dramatically, handset cooks and over heats, camera doesn’t function correctly because of over heating issue and have to wait for it to cool down! Picture quality is still a mess.sound quality is poor in Walkman.
My Z1 had been working perfect for months until I installed 4.3….they should of skipped this update and gone straight onto kitkat.
Since the update I’ve experienced on my Xperia Z1
-My album malfunctioning. Most of my pictures are just a black screen.
-Walkman constantly crashes.
-Unable to play movies.
-Facebook is sometimes unresponsive
-Overheats way too much way too quickly and
-For a 20mp camera, there is so much noise in my photos it comes out looking almost vga.
