Sony Xperia Z1 the “best of Sony yet”, year-end 2013 flagship device which Sony claimed that it will remain flagship device in year 2014 also for some time. Xperia Z1 features 5″ full HD screen with Triluminos display and shatter proof and scratch-resistant glass. Some times back many Xperia Z users reported that they were experiencing loose back panel issue and self cracking screen issues. Well in some parts of world Sony do recognized self cracking screen issue of Xperia Z but now this issue has been noticed on many Xperia Z1 users screen.
Xperia Z1 Self cracking screen issue has been posted by many users on Sony Mobile Talk Forum and all users are claiming that their Xperia Z1 screen got cracked itself and no load or any force was subjected on it. By looking on to pics, it is hard to believe that Xperia Z1 screen cracked itself but if not one, many users are claiming it, there must be some truth that why there are pointing out Xperia Z1 Self cracking screen issue.
Xperia Z1 Self cracking screen Issue
Xperia Z1 users are claiming that without any fall and Sony support centers are not accepting the fact that this may have happened due to faulty material used in making screen panels.
Check below a pic of Xperia Z1 screen which cracked itself.
Have a look at another pic of Xperia Z1 handset which also shows the crack developed on screen itself.
After reading all the comments posted on the Sony Mobile Talk Forum, it seems Sony service centers are not taking up this issue under warranty and no replacement it being to Xperia Z1 users on this issue.
Another Xperia Z1 user “Ian Carter” got in touch with us, he is also facing the same issue, let’s have a look at the pics.
Well it seems pretty bad, first Xperia Z experienced serious issues like loose back panels and self cracking screen which as usual Sony not acknowledging and now Xperia Z1 users are stating same issues. Let us tell you something we found yellow hue screen issue on our newly purchased one day old Xperia Z1 and when we took up this issue with Sony service center they replied to us saying they have never heard of this issue. Many Xperia Z1 users are also claiming that water and dust entering the rear camera lens, though Sony claims it as a water-resistant phone.
Previously we posted that many Xperia Z1 users were claiming that a bent has appeared in the body and screen of Xperia Z1 itself and some user’s USB port flap fell of itself, another issue which Sony sidelined and didn’t acknowledge.
Xperia Z1 Screen and Body bent appears – User’s fault or Hardware issue ?
It seems either Sony is taking a stand on the faulty expensive products sold by them to users strictly and instead blaming users for the same. Personally we have got our Xperia Z replaced for loose back panel issue and Xperia Z1 replaced 3 times for yellow hue issue.
POOR Sony Service Center support on Xperia Z1 Yellow Hue Tint Issue on Display Screen

This is pretty bad...is Sony's build quality heading down in wrong direction??? Sony plz reply to your customers, and I replaced my z1 due to overheating few days back, and now I have yellow hue issue, is it hardware or software?? Is replacing solved the issue for u?? awaiting ur response!!
Hey, the yellow hue should be fixable with a program tough some say it requires your phone to be rooted, you can find guides online.
Men that hurts :(
I've had my Z1 for 2 months and had no problem. In fact, it fell off a boat into 2mtrs muddy water near a jetty, took my nephew 25minutes to find it, it worked perfectly afterwards, sound was disabled for 3 hours, just as well, I can't praise it enough and am very sorry to hear of these issues, best of luck to you all :)
Have my Z1 for 2 months. Took it out of my pocket to answer a call and there it was, a single crack on the screen in the top corner. Phone had not been dropped. Not happy :(
I put my phone in my empty pocket walked from my car to my front door. pulled it out of my pocket to check a text message, and boom and S shaped hairline crack going from the middle left side of the screen all the way to the middle lower portion of the handset. Sony said that I can send the phone in the have their techs look at it and determine whether or not it was a manufacturer problem or a problem that I created by dropping my phone or something that I did to it. Now the pictures of the screens above look way worse than my phone. However after talking to Sony they didn't sound very optimistic about my phone being covered under. especially since in the warranty it states that Sony will repair a hairline fracture as long as it can be proved that it was a manufacturer problem.... My problem who is holding Sony accountable for faulty phones. from what I have read its Sony's word against the consumer. The only I found this post was because I was convinced that it was nothing I did to crack this screen. I didn't do anything to crack the screen between my car and my front door. Im sending in my phone today, If Sony comes back with some bull shit on how the crack was my fault. I think it will be time for us the consumer to fight back im talking Lawsuit not boycott. If we get enough people on board they will be forced to listen and reexamine their components. I've been purchasing cell phones for a while. I've been in many a forum and read many a article. however I have never seen such a specific issue happen to so many different users all over the world and the manufacturer refusing to admit that it could be a problem with their device. I paid some 600 dollars for this phone, I don't need Sony telling I did something to damage it, when I know I did nothing.
Stand together y'all, if you want them to make this right we have to stand up and say its no longer your word against ours. lets let the courts and court appointed experts decide whose at fault. the 1000's of people complaining about the exact same problem or the manufacturer that can do no wrong.
bought my z1 on oct 2013...last week on 16.2.14...took it out from my pocket to answer call and there was 2 cracks on the screen..send to sony service centre on 19th and on 25th they send an aknowledge form saying that phone case crack coz i drop it and the repair cost is not under warranty...till today still fighting with sony service centre regarding this...
I bought an Xperia Z1 on October 2013 and on the 12 of February 2014 at one point I put it in the pocket and after couple of minutes I took it out and discovered a couple of cracks in the front panel. The phone didn't fall down nor bumped into something while in pocket. I was absolutely astonished. So I sent it to an official repair centre and they told me it was my fault, that the panel cracked because of a physical impact. I am absolutely furious. To buy an 800 dollars top-class phone with tempered glass and to discover it been cracked just like that and not being covered with warranty, is totally unexeptable.
As a Retail sales 4 customers came back for a self cracked screen, they paid the deductible 175 cuz I didn't believe them at the beginning since one of my friends paid the 175 and got the new phone and after 5 days had the same issue!!!!! oh god and I called Sony rep and he refused to give me any info if they have any idea whats going on. SONY if you will not admit that and solve your customers issues trust me it will cost you more than recall!!!
As a sales man i stopped introducing the phone to my customers.
i bouth my sony z1 22.12.2013 . i was talking with a freind with the phone , after i put the phone on the table and went to go get me some coffy, when i did take the phone in my hand i did see a crack on the glass and the cell phone can not be operated. i could not belive my eyes becouse i was alone n the house and telephone have never been dropped in the period i had it.
Hope i get this fixed from sony
My sons phone cracked while we were watching a video and it was resting in the palm of his hand. Have sent it to a repair centre. If it is not repaired under warranty I will issue a summons in the small claims court against Sony.
Got simliar issue with my Z ultra... Got it on 13th jan and after watching a show, i took out my phone in an attempt to make a phone call. Later did i realised that there was a crack in my INNER screen and my outer screen is COMPLETELY SMOOTH. Sent to sony repair centre but was shocked that they charged me $400+ SING DOLLARS for that repair. Despite telling them how carefully i was with my phone, they pushed the blame to the end user(me) and refused to repair it under warranty. REALLY VERY DISAPPOINTED. WHAT IF I GET IT REPAIRED AND NEXT TIME THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED? Furthermore, the fault doesnt even lies in me to begin with!
