Covering our post series on various Nexus 5 defects, we found that many LG Nexus 5 users are now complaining regarding the fragile Nexus 5 screen display. One user got his Nexus 5 screen cracked after it fell on the floor though it was his fault but still Nexus 5 screen got cracked with an impact from such a small height. If you don’t know let us tell you Nexus 5 features 4.95″ screen Corning Gorilla Glass 3 display.
Another Nexus 5 user got in touch with us and sent some of the pics of his defected Nexus 5 screen display. In his case, he quotes “screen impact causing a hairline crack within the LCD which eventually causes fluid to bleed out leaving a dark spot on the screen. It looks like water damage but with no pathway from a speaker or button. It’s simply a dark splotch in the middle of the phone“.
Let’s have a look at Nexus 5 Screen showing dark spot.
It seems a dark patch on Nexus 5 screen.
Nexus 5 Screen showing dark spot is about 1 cm x.5 cm on the top third of Nexus 5 screen. It looks like water damage but there is no pathway or trail from any port/button/speaker.
Issue is that does this type of defect in Nexus 5 screen will be taken under warranty by the LG ? Well it seems no to us, as another user told us that they refused to take cracked screen issues under warranty cover.
If any other user also having any such dark spot issue on his Nexus 5 screen then do get in touch with us. Well if you have also got some serious defects in your Nexus 5 then do let us know in comments. Drop your comments below.
Thanks Greg Edward 🙂

I have a nexus 5 and just yesterday I discovered what seems to be a pressure crack in the top right hand corner of my screen. There is only a tiny crack but it's only affecting the lcd screen underneath the glass, the glass itself has no damage at all. I have never dropped the phone and it is brand new only being bought late December 2013 and its Feb 2014 now. The whole screen is just lines of colour. So far by calling LG and Google, i cant claim warranty on it cos its still customer induced damage. Really disappointed.
Can you send some pics at anurag@nexusauthority.com would like to see...
Hi Anurag, I have the same problem as Nathanael. The lady at Google said plainly if the screen is not cracked and there is no water damage, it will be replaced. When she says "the screen" does she mean the glass? Or are there other parts under that glass that can still have a "crack."
I'm experiencing the same problems as everyone else above. My phone has never been dropped, and is always in a case when not in use. This morning, I woke up checked my voicemail, phone was fine. Got ready for work, and there's a black screen on the upper right hand quadrant of the phone. It will turn completely black, and just be vertical lines of cover. LG will "have to examine it" to see if it's covered under warranty. This phone is a POS. I had the Nexus S, and you know what, I've dropped it a gazillion times, the glass was completely cracked, and the phone still worked.
I'm very disappointed with Google and LG with this phone....I've only had the phone since February!!!! I've been a longtime Nexus fan, and actually cannot stand the Samsung Galaxies.... and this point, I might as well just go on over to an iphone. Ugh.
I have a nexus 5 and today I discovered what seems to be a pressure crack in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. There is only a tiny crack but it’s only affecting the lcd screen underneath the glass, the glass itself has no damage at all. So I was laying down listening to music on my nexus 5, and I heard a small crack. I looked at my screen and noticed a hairline fracture at the bottom right corner of my screen. It has never been dropped and was purchased Christmas time of 2013. Really disappointed with the build quality. For something that is marketed as a flagship phone it has some pretty horrible build quality if it can crack itself without any force.
Woke up to find the bottom hand corner of screen what appeared to have pixel shift, over the next few days a large crack under the glass screen appeared and the phone is no longer usable.
After speaking to 3 the phone was sent off for what I thought was repair. Only to be told I damaged it!!!!
As phone is under a year old and as such is under warranty with Three, I shall be being seeking damages in the small claims court.
The phone is spotless and never been abused in any shape or form. It spends 99% of its life in a car holder.
