A few months back we reported that many Xperia Z1 users were complaining that frame bent has appeared in their handset without any external force applied. Though if you’ll look at Xperia Z1 frame bent pics you wont believe that it has appeared without application of any external force but as number of users reporting this issue is very large so it makes us to doubt on the build quality of Xperia Z1 on those particular handsets. Well unfortunately now Xperia SP users are also reporting same frame bent issue on their handset.
One such user Corey Walter has contacted us regarding the “Xperia SP Frame Bent Issue” which appeared in his handset and it really looks really terrible. Flat bar designed Xperia SP is looking like Xperia T curve design, well mocking aside; all such cases which are arising almost daily regarding the build quality of handsets is a serious concern.
[ UPDATE ]Xperia Z1 Screen and Body bent appears – User’s fault or Hardware issue ?
Let’s have a look at Xperia SP Frame Bent Issue…
Xperia SP Frame Bent Issue
Notice the front panel of Xperia SP shown below, it is clearly bent from the front like a curve.
Below user has placed his Xperia SP over LG Optimus and look at the ends of Xperia SP, they are moved upwards not perfectly horizontal.
Check the curve formed in body of Xperia SP.
In below pic you can see the exact curve formed in the frame of Xperia SP
As claimed by the user, all frame bent appeared itself, no force was applied from his end but the issue now arises is that whether Sony will take up this case under warranty or not. As seen from the comments of many Xperia Z1 users, some got their handset replaced from Sony for same issue and to some Sony refused saying such frame bents can’t appear itself, weird huh ?
[ UPDATE – 23 FEB ]
Another user “Narelle & Phil” has reached us and unfortunately bends have appeared in their Xperia SP frame also which is very disappointing, it seems now as many users are reporting, there may be some issue with those frames.
Just to update users, Sony has started rolling officially Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.266 firmware on Xperia SP, check below link for full details on it.
Xperia SP 12.1.A.0.266 firmware Android 4.3 Rolling Now Officially
Well if you have also got any such issues in your Xperia SP then do let us know. We would like to know how many Xperia SP users are facing this frame bent issue. Drop your comments below.

That's User damage, a phone doesn't just bend by it self.
mate kindly look at this Z1 thread here - https://www.gizmobolt.com/2013/11/17/xperia-z1-screen-and-body-bent-appears/
i brough my z1 on january 10th i dont have such problem like bending or anything.. i used to carry my z1 in jeans only
I've seen that, still don't believe it's happened "by itself"
Yes it is hard to agree on that statement...
It’s a relatively common problem that plagues the xperia Z and Z1 as well.. and most likely it will happen with the Z2. If you keep it in plastic(or other material that doesn’t conduct heat) covers, heat can’t get out so phone gets hot. Z1′s frame is made of aluminum while the case is glass. Metal changes length more than glass when exposed to heat so the phone bends. Many users claim to have never used a case yet it still bends so this is definitely an overheating issue.
right. so if the manufacturer is using materials that can't handle the heat produced by the device that it houses, that is a manufacturer oversight not user damage.
also, this same issue is affecting my Xperia SP , as i posted the first set of pics with the Optimus. i've never used a case just the same as i've never applied any excessive external forces, accidental or otherwise
The new Xperia with Flexible display :).
Lol thats comment of day :-P
May be it's because of the heat produced by excessive usage of the phone. We know metals expand when heated. Any way I am not sure. Some science involved in it.
for Z1 it can be claimed through accidental damage production rite ?? do sp have this damage production ??
Maybe a KitKat will help.
Just purchased an Xperia SP in April and within 2 weeks of use it has bent and the screen has a single crack through it.. Sony refuses to consider it a possible warranty repair.. We are now taking it up with our regulator. As this product was not of merchantable quality.
I posted the first of these pics of the bent SP frame.
I'm still using the same phone, but now , after the screen and frame has bent itself, it is non responsive on the top. an inch from the SONY logo wont let me touch. it just slowly gets worse, but overall with the bent frame the phone works well still. if i could find an app that lets me reduce the amount of screen Android uses then i could touch my whole screen still
also, if it's user damage, does that not mean this problem would appear just as randomly throughout all models of all companies' products? how does the EXACT same damage occur to many users of the same product ? if user damage was the case, would we not see this in other brand and model phones?
I have just put in a complaint to Sony about my Experia SP. After one month the screen went and it was replaced, now 6 months later the phone has for no apparent reason bent thus making the screen faulty again. It has not been sat on or dropped as implied by Phones 4 u who dismissed this out of hand and refused to send it away for repair.
With 18 months left on the contract what is one supposed to do?
The phone when working is great but now as much use as a chocolate teapot.
I have a sp, and noticed yesterday when I put it on the dash of my lorry that it had a slight curve in it. My phone always sits on the dash and never in my pockets and has never been sat on. It sits in the same place on the dash all night and on the kitchen side during the day charging, what is going on with these phones, my sp is just under a year old.
My Xperia SP has been running pretty much fine since a year and two months or so.. . Have been playing extreme games all day long as well! Even used it in rough conditions and the phone has fell a couple of times on the cricket pitch while I was bowling :-D
lol.. .
Either I am lucky or you guys are using the Chinese remakes of the same model :-P
