Android 5.1 has finally marked its appearance a few days back and it is live on Nexus devices now. Sony is yet to roll Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on its Xperia “Z” series handsets and meanwhile they have released AOSP Android 5.1 Lollipop binaries under their AOSP for Xperia project.
Sony has released Android 5.1 Lollipop binaries for following Xperia smartphones viz. Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia E3, Xperia M2, Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia T3.
Android 5.1 Lollipop binaries for Xperia
Sony has released binaries for some non Xperia “Z” series handsets also, in no way it confirms or negates the possibility of Lollipop update on those handsets.

Google has brought some new features support for multiple SIM cards, Device Protection and high definition (HD) voice on compatible phones on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Google has brought a new feature called “Device Protection” which protects your device in case it is stolen and will remain locked until the real user sign in with Google account and it will work even if the device is reset to factory settings.
