Sony Album 6.1.A.0.14 app update rolling

Yesterday we saw Sony rolling out Walkman 8.3.A.0.7 app update which is a minor performance enhancement and bug fixing update and now album app has also been updated to new 6.1.A.0.14 version from the old 6.0.A.0.26 version. Sony recently launched Album app with new updated UI which was seen running on Xperia Z2 at MWC 2014 event.

Album 6.1.A.0.14 app update brings PlayMemories Online video support which allows you to upload, play and browse videos besides performance enhancement and bug fixing. You can now upload full resolution videos with option “All Sync”. If you haven’t got the update yet, you can download the Album 6.1.A.0.14 app from below link and install like a normal apk. Album 6.1.A.0.14 app is confirmed on Xperia Z1, Z2, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR, SP and other android 4.3+ running Xperia handsets.

Sony Walkman 8.3.A.0.7 app update rolling

Sony has updated their media app Walkman to version 8.3.A.0.7 from previous 8.3.A.0.5 version which was also a bug fixing update over original new UI based Walkman 8.3.A.0.2 app update. Walkman 8.3.A.0.7 app update is confirmed on all Xperia handsets running android 4.3+ version like Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR, SP, T, V etc.

Walkman 8.3.A.0.7 app update is rolling as an OTA update via Update Center app. Walkman 8.3.A.0.7 app update is yet another bug fixing update from Sony which enhances performance and fixes some bugs related to volume. If you haven’t got Walkman 8.3.A.0.7 app update yet then you can manually download the file from below mentioned link and install it like a normal apk.

We are writing this with very sadness that this will be the last post published on our blog. Sony Mobile Communications AB have raised a formal complaint about using their trademarked name “XPERIA” in our domain name “XperiaGuide.com” and wants us to discontinue the use of XperiaGuide.com immediately.

Sony Mobile is the copyright owner of all the images of the phones and the themes ( leaked by the users around the net and republished on our site ) published on out site as mentioned by them in the notice sent to us. We felt very disappointed after seeing the complaint from Sony Mobile Communications AB. We have spent so much of our free time in writing the content and promoting the brand “Xperia” on web. Sony Mobile has posted an interesting infographic regarding their FY 2013-2014 Business Update. It is the second inforgraphic from Sony which came this month after they posted “Benefits of waterproof phone“. Sony mentions the $75410(m) consolidated sale for Sony Corporation which is 14.3% rise as compared to previous year 2012 consolidated sales.

2013 was a great year for Sony as they launched their best ever Xperia line up in form of famous Xperia “Z” series smartphones which came as Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Z Ultra and year ended with Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Tablet, Xperia Z1F and Sony Smart Watch 2. As you all know what made these “Xperia Z series” handsets a mark in smartphone industry that they all are water and dust resistant smartphones.

Sony recently launched a major update for its Movies app in form of 6.2 .A.0.8 version where a new UI with features like pinch to zoom, slide in and out menu navigation are seen and now a new minor bug fixing update is rolling in form of Movies 6.2.A.0.10 app has been spotted as OTA update.

Movies 6.2.A.0.10 app update is confirmed on handsets like Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, SP, ZL, ZR and other android 4.3 running Xperia handsets. Movies 6.2.A.0.10 app update is of 17.5 MB size update accessible via update center app only. No specific changelog is attached from Sony regarding this update.

New Xperia certified on FCC, FCC ID PY7PM-0732-BV running 18.2.A.0.9 firmware

Sony is planning to launch a new Xperia handset soon in the market and it can be predicted by seeing that recently a new Xperia device with FCC ID PY7PM-0732-BV running 18.2.A.0.9 firmware got passed though the FCC certification. Sony has already launched a couple of handsets like Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1S, Xperia E1 / E1 Dual, Xperia T2 Ultra / T2 Ultra Dual, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia A2, Xperia ZL2 so far in first 5 months of 2014.

New Xperia handset which is running 18.2.A.0.9 firmware, android version is still unknown and only a bit info regarding the bands used in phone and the position of phone’s FCC id info tray is spotted in the pics.

Xperia Z1 Compact 14.3.E.0.1 firmware certified on PTCRB

A new firmware in form of 14.3.E.0.1 firmware is being certified at PTCRB for Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 which is a very different build firmware configuration as when compared to present android 4.4.2 14.3.A.0.757 firmware. As the firmware config. has changed it seems a specific firmware for some carriers rather than regular Xperia Z1 Compact global variants.

After Sony released android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact, all users were complaining regarding the bugs in this major update brought though Sony rolled a bug fixing update also but it failed to address the issue. Currently users are facing issues like battery drain, heating issues and sound issues.

Verizon Xperia Z2 Press photo spotted on Sony Korea site

Verizon Xperia Z2 has been in rumors before Xperia Z2 was launched and recently we saw some press render pic of Verizon Xperia Z2 on one of the Sony’s official social network channel where later Sony retracted the image and posted an explanation for the same. Just now we spotted another press render of Verizon Xperia Z2 on Sony Korea site.

As for an update Sony Korea has also retracted the Verizon Xperia Z2 press render pic from the Xperia Z2 listing. Firstly we saw Verizon Xperia Z2 pic where Verizon and 4G LTE logo is spotted at the back of the phone and even the design of the Verizon Xperia Z2 ( if there is any ) seems a bit different from global variant of Xperia Z2.

In the below pic you can see the press render of Verizon Xperia Z2 and the corrected image of Xperia Z2 from Sony Korea. Future of Verizon Xperia Z2 is still in dark though nothing can be said at this moment.

If we get to know any info regarding Verizon Xperia Z2 we will keep you updated. Sony has already made clear that an unlocked version of Xperia Z2 will soon be available in US in summer 2014, will Xperia Z2 be available under any carrier in US is a mystery itself.

Sony launched Xperia Z2 and as expected wireless charging facility on it was not seen but it seems Sony is putting its effort to enable wireless charging on Xperia Z2 and other Xperia devices with the help of two new wireless charging accessories viz. Sony WCR12 Wireless Charging Cover and Sony WCH10 Wireless Charging plate.

WCR12 and WCH10 accessories are currently listed on UK retailer site Clove at price £69.99 and £54.99 respectively. Above mentioned products real existence was under doubt until Sony WCH10 Wireless Charging plate was spotted getting certified and passed at FCC officially ( FCC ID: PY7-AC0010 ). As far as technical specifications are concerned, input ratings are 12V ~ 1A.

Xperia ZR 10.5.A.0.230 firmware KitKat build certified

A few days back we saw 10.5.A.0.230 firmware getting certified for Xperia Z, ZL and Tablet Z and now the same android 4.4.2 KitKat build has been certified for Xperia ZR also on PTCRB. A previous build 10.5.A.0.227 firmware was certified a bit ago and an updated build has now arrived which was recently seen rolling on some developer Xperia Z handsets.

10.5.A.0.230 firmware is certified for Xperia ZR C5503 and C5502 both variants and should hit the device in upcoming weeks. As per Sony’s statement KitKat for Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z, is scheduled in mid Q2 2014, exact date is still unknown. Below you can see the firmware certification on PTCRB.

We will keep you updated as we get more info on rollout of Xperia ZR 10.5.A.0.230 firmware.

Xperia M2 18.0.A.1.33, 18.0.C.1.15 firmware certified

Xperia M2 which came into existence at MWC 2014, has already seen its launch in India a few days back and soon will be available on Sony Online stores across European regions. Xperia M2 features 4.8″ qHD Display, Snapdragon 400 SoC 1.2 GHz quad core processor ( MSM8926 / MSM8226 ) with Adreno 305 GPU. Xperia M2 packs 8 MP rear cam, HD video recording, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage and external SD card support up to 32 GB.

Two new firmwares have been certified for Xperia M2 on PTCRB viz. 18.0.A.1.33 firmware and 18.0.C.1.15 firmware. 18.0.C.1.15 firmware is certified for Xperia M2 D2306 and D2303 while 18.0.A.1.33 firmware certified for Xperia M2 D2305 variant. These certifications of firmware clearly indicates Sony is upgrading the Xperia M2 firmware for its global retail launch.

Sony SmartBand SWR10 launched in India at price Rs 5990, available from 3rd Week of May

Earlier today Sony launched Xperia Z2 in India at a press event at Crystal Ballroom, Lalit Hotel, New Delhi where Sony India MD Mr. Kenichiro and Koyal Rana, Miss India World 2014 introduced it in Indian market. As expected Xperia Z2 is priced at Rs49990 i.e. $834, €598, £492 for Indian market and will be available 12 May onwards. Sony is giving away SmartBand SWR10 as a freebie in the box with Xperia Z2 and they have also launched it separately in Indian market.

SmartBand SWR10 is launched in India at price Rs 5990 i.e. $100, £59, €72 and will be available from 3rd Week of May at all leading electronics stores, Xperia Lounge stores. SmartBand SWR10 is a 24/7 wearable waterproof accessory which is to be paired with Sony Lifelog app which comes pre-installed on Xperia Z2 and then you can track your daily activities details with Lifelog app installed on your Xperia device.

At present SmartBand SWR10 will only be available in Black color and same color will be dispatched with Xperia Z2 also and it will be available in other vibrant colors at the end of May 2014.

In white there is IP 58 certified water proof core of SWR10 band.

Sony SmartBand SWR10 is compatible with many smartphones running android 4.4+ versions and even Ligelog app is now supported by many other OEM handsets also.

A day back we saw Sony Japan launching waterproof SRS-X1 speaker and SRS-X2 20W output speaker and today we saw Sony India launching Xperia Z2 in India market. A new Xperia smartphone Xperia ZL2 SOL25 is launched for au by KDDI in Japan. Xperia ZL2 SOL25 resembles Xperia Z2 in terms of specifications in many factors. Xperia Z2 Tablet is also launched for domestic market in Japan by Sony.

Xperia ZL2 SOL25 features 5″ Full HD display, waterproof and dust resistant IPX5/IPX8 and IP5X rating, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AB 2.3GHz quad core processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal storage + microSD card slot, Android 4.4 KitKat Out of the box, WiFi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and 3000mAh battery, 167 g weight, 137 × 72 × 10.8 mm in dimensions and 20.7 MP rear camera with 2.2 MP front cam. Earlier today Sony launched Xperia Z2 in India at a press event at Crystal Ballroom, Lalit Hotel, New Delhi where Sony India MD Mr. Kenichiro introduced it in Indian market. As expected Xperia Z2 is priced at Rs49990 i.e. $834, €598, £492 for Indian market and will be available from 12 May, pre-order has already opened at Infibeam and Flipkart. Sony is giving freebies like SmartBand SWR10 along with a premium leather case and 6 month accidental damage cover. Sony has tied up with Vodafone under which you will get 2 GB free data for first two months of product purchase.

Sony is targeting a sale of Rs 5500 crore in India for FY 2014, further he said, Sony is planning to launch 30 new smartphones with 500 Xperia Lounge stores in India. Sony has planned to spend Rs 350 crore for marketing only purpose.

Mr. Hibi added, saying…

“We aim to take leadership in the wearable technology space and are planning to launch a host of exciting and innovative smartphone accessories to let our customers truly enjoy the unique ‘One Sony’ experience. The bundling of the Sony SmartBand with the Sony Xperia Z2 offers truly unbeatable value to customers of premium android smartphones, and we are confident of a very positive response from the market.”

Sony Xperia Z2 has been launched in many regions of the world already and now we expect it to make a good business in India also when other OEMs have already launched their flagship product at the same price range.

Sony Japan launches waterproof SRS-X1 speaker, SRS-X2 20W output speaker

Earlier today Sony Japan has launched two new set of speakers line viz. waterproof SRS-X1 speaker and high output SRS-X2 speaker. SRS-X1 speakers are identical to another model SRS-BTV5 with some enhancement and water resistant nature while SRS-X2 is amplified for higher volume and powerful sound experience.

Sony SRS-X1 speaker will be available in White, Black, Pink and Violet and Sony SRS-X1 speaker will be available in White and Black color, 21 June onwards at price 8500 Yen ($83) + Tax and 9500 Yen ($93) + Tax respectively from Sony Stores in Japan. Sony SRS-X1 speakers are IPX7 rated equivalent to JIS and JIS IPX5 suitable for safely usage in bathroom and kitchen.

Sony SRS-X1 speakers are 185g in weight, practical maximum output ( JEITA investigation ) is 5W, supported connectivity – Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC and standard dimensions are 78mm × 80.5mm × 78mm.

Sony SRS-X2 speaker

Sony SRS-X2 speakers weighs around 500 grams, practical maximum output ( JEITA investigation ) is 20W, supported connectivity – Bluetooth 3.0 and NFC and standard dimensions are 171mm × 60.5mm × 56.5mm.

Xperia E1 Dual 20.0.B.0.84 firmware rolling now

Recently certified 20.0.B.0.84 firmware for Xperia E1 Dual on PTCRB has started rolling now and confirmed on Xperia E1 Dual D2105. 20.0.B.0.84 firmware seems a minor bug fixing update only with no specific changelog available and Sony Xperia E1 Dual software page on Sony website still lists the old 20.0.B.0.68 firmware.

Connect your Xperia E1 Dual to PC Companion and look for 20.0.B.0.84 firmware update notification as shown below. Proceed as per on screen instructions. No OTA update seen yet for 20.0.B.0.84 firmware. 20.0.B.0.84 firmware is still in seeding stage so you may get it after sometime.

Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet 17.1.1.A.0.402 firmware certified on PTCRB

Yesterday we saw 17.1.A.2.69 firmware hitting LTE variant of Xperia Z2 Tablet and a lot time back same 17.1.A.2.69 firmware was spotted on Xperia Z2. At present Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet owners are complaining regarding poor touch response and the present firmware also don’t fix that bug and it seems a new bug fixing update is on verge of release.

Just now a new 17.1.1.A.0.402 firmware has been certified on PTCRB for both Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet which seems a bug fixing update but a major one as the firmware configuration has changed now. Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet are now being launched in many regions of the world by Sony.

A few days we back we posted that Sony will be launching Xperia Z2 in India on 8 May and now Sony India has officially confirmed it as just now we got a mail from Sony India about Xperia Z2 launch press event in India on 8 May,12.30 PM at New Delhi. Sony India MD Mr. Kenichiro Hibi will be there for launching Xperia Z2 in India.

Xperia Z2 launch press event is strictly invite only event which will take place at Crystal Ballroom, Lalit Hotel, New Delhi. Exact price of Xperia Z2 is still kept secret from media for the time being. We expect Xperia Z2 to be available soon in market just after launch.
