How to Enable Multi-Window mode on Xperia phone running Marshmallow

Earlier when Google announced Android M at Google I/O 2015, multi-window mode was spotted in the earlier developer preview images released which was not seen in the final release of Android Marshmallow on devices.

It looks like a simple tweak in the build.prop file of your Xperia smartphone running Android 6.0 Marshmallow will enable Multi-Window mode on your device.

How to Enable Multi-Window mode on Xperia phone

Before proceeding make sure your Xperia device is running Android 6.0+ Marshmallow and is rooted.

Do make a backup of your current build.prop file.

Using any root file manager navigate to system/build.prop
Find “ro.build.type” (it must be written as re.build.type=user)
Replace the “user” to “userdebug“
Save and reboot
After rebooting, go to developer settings > drawing category and then “Enable Multi-Window”.

Now you can use multi-window feature on your Xperia device.

First Xperia X firmware, 34.0.A.1.205 certified on PTCRB

Sony recently announced its new Xperia “X” series smartphones which includes Xperia X, Xperia XA, and Xperia X Performance. As per Sony during mid May this year some markets will see them getting launched.

So as May is approaching, the very first Xperia X 34.0.A.1.205 firmware gets certified on PTCRB for both single SIM and Dual SIM variants model (F5121 and F5122).

Most probably it will be Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware, which Sony mentioned that it will come as out of box firmware.

Xperia Z4 402SO gets Android 6.0 Marshmallow 32.1.D.0.284 firmware update from SoftBank

Xperia Z4 402SO has got Android 6.0 Marshmallow 32.1.D.0.284 firmware update in Japan from SoftBank carrier. Sony has already released Android 6.0 and Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware update on Xperia Z5, Z3 and Z2 series.

Sony Mobile posted open source archives for 32.1.D.0.284 firmware recently and now update has been successfully confirmed on Xperia Z4 402SO.

Sony’s first Android Marshmallow build didn’t feature STAMINA Mode in the battery settings but Marshmallow 32.1.D.0.284 firmware update for Xperia Z4 402SO has STAMINA Mode.

Closer look of Sony’s backed FES e-ink watch in pics

A few days back we shared hands on pics of FES e-ink watch and now a more closer look is available. It works on electronic paper technology with 24 design options (combination of black and white color) which can be changed at dial and strap level.

It is water resistant, dimensions are: diameter 46 mm, thickness 7.5 mm. It weighs 43 grams and the strap is made up of urethane rubber black. There is no Bluetooth, no GPS in the watch. It looks like one is wearing a paper printed layout on his wrist.

How to install Android N Preview NPC91K on Xperia Z3

Yesterday Sony announced Android N Developer Preview for selected variants of Xperia Z3 (D6603 and D6653) which becomes the first non-Nexus range to get Android N Developer Preview.

Android N Developer Preview NPC91K (April/02 Security Patch) firmware ftf file is now available for flashing on Xperia Z3 devices exclusively.

Download Android N Developer Preview NPC91K ftf from the below link and flash it on your device using Flashtool. It can be flashed on both locked as well as unlocked bootloader devices, no root needed.

Android N Developer Preview for Xperia Z3 released by Sony

Android N Developer Preview for Xperia Z3 was released earlier today and this was very quick from Sony and Google to land Android N Developer Preview out of Nexus line. Google has already released Android N Developer Preview 2 (DP2) for Nexus range.

For the time being Android N Developer Preview is released for Xperia Z3 D6603 and D6653 variants only and can be flashed on devices using Flashtool.

Xperia M Ultra with 6″ FHD Display, 23 MP Rear & 16 MP front camera rumoured to come

Yesterday news came regarding Sony Xperia X Premium, alleged successor of Xperia Z Premium which might feature world’s first HDR display and now rumours have come regarding Sony launching Xperia M Ultra.

Sony Xperia M Ultra is rumoured to feature 6″ FHD display (super narrow bezel, IPS-Neo 120Hz, Triluminos, Whitemagic display).

Sony Xperia M Ultra is tipped to feature 23 MP rear Dual-camera (24mm/F2 OSS & 75mm/F2.2 OSS) and 16 MP/25mm F2 OSS front camera.

It might feature 4280 mAh (QC3.0) running on Snapdragon 625 backed by 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage. It is also tipped to feature fingerprint sensor with type-C USB port.

Sony Xperia C6 Ultra is also rumoured to come as a successor of Xperia C5 Ultra.

As per the sources, the info was posted by a user, so for the time being it can’t be confirmed so we’ve put it in the rumour mill. We will keep you updated once any solid lead comes.

Sony What’s New app got a new update recently with 3.5.A.1.2 version over the older 3.5.A.1.0 version. This is a minor bugs fixing update along with usual performance enhancement.

Sony Xperia X Premium rumoured to feature HDR Display

Sony recently unveiled its Xperia “X” series lineup for 2016 which officially marked the end of Xperia “Z” series lineup. Sony Mobile came up with Xperia X, Xperia XA, and Xperia X Performance.

Rumours are floating around saying that a new Xperia X series smartphone i.e. Xperia X Premium might be launched by Sony Mobile which will feature world’s first HDR Display in a smartphone.

Sony Xperia X Premium is seen as successor to last year flagship Xperia Z5 Premium as per sources.

Rumoured Xperia X Premium Specifications

Xperia X Premium is rumoured to feature 5.5″ LCD (Whitemagic display), Full HD (1920×1080 resolution), supporting HDR (High Dynamic Ranging) playback (and display). Xperia X Premium HDR display is tipped to offer 1000 nits of white brightness (maximum upto 1300 nits) i.e. 10-bit HDR display offering color depth of 1.07 billion as compared to 16.7 million color depth of many high-end smartphones out in market.

As compared to usual 256 shades of RGB colors, Xperia X Premium 10-bit HDR display would display 1024 shades of RGB colors. It is also tipped to feature 120Hz refresh rate (seen in UHD TVs) and 2000:1 contrast ratio. As far as specifications are concerned, Xperia X Premium is to feature similar specs like Xperia X Performance i.e. Snapdragon 820 SoC, Adreno 530 GPU, 3 GB RAM and moreover a USB Type-C port will be there.

For the time being there is no verified authentic source to confirm the above mentioned specifications of Xperia X Premium, so take it with a pinch of salt for now.

Sony released Advanced Logging App on Play Store

Sony Mobile has released a new app i.e. Advanced Logging app on Play Store to send logs to Sony Mobile to improve support and devices through a separate app. Generally logs sent to company contains information like unique device id, location, details of running apps, reasons for app crashing, etc.

As per the info put by the Sony’s team, logging is for short period only and is automatically disabled once logging details has been sent.

Logs are uploaded when device is connected to the Wi-Fi and are deleted once uploaded.
