14.5.A.0.283 firmware is an Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update, which has a very low possibility of also getting rolled for global variants of these devices.

Sportskeeda Android App Review: Perfect Timeline for Sports updates

Sportskeeda launched its Android app (in beta stage) on Play Store recently and if you have been following the Sportskeeda website it’s a great news and if not, then you might want to do now. Why? Let’s see. Sportskeeda app presents you more than 25+ different sports updates at one place, isn’t this cool!

Sportskeeda Android app is compatible with devices running Android 4.0.3+. This App follows material design UI therefore it looks much better in Lollipop running Android devices as compared to other versions.

Done installing the Sportkeeda Android app, it will guide you through the app UI.

You are just a “tap” away from your sports updates. Choose the sports from the list displayed and you will see updates only from them in the main screen of the app.

First two window panes of the app will present the latest and trending (live) updates to you.

Look for the red colored “live” tag in the posts and you can follow the live feed of that sport.

Settings

From the home window of the app, you can reselect your desired sport from the list displayed. Choose as many you want.

You can opt to choose display notifications or not from the settings menu.

Google adapted material design UI in Android Lollipop update and so does Sportskeeda Android app. Every sport is categorized with a different color and app looks a lot vibrant and colorful.

In-app content reading is great. It has 3 pre-defined sharing options and more than 20+ other sharing options (depending upon the apps installed on your device).

As you can see no comment system is enabled in the app which we would like to see in next updates.

Sportskeeda Android app allows you to view any image separately with zoom in/out function though you can’t save any image unfortunately.

X-Factor of Sportskeeda Android app

It is a perfect timeline for any sports update. You get to have more than 25+ sports updates at one place which is not available in other apps like Cricbuzz, ESPN etc. Sportskeeda Android app is only 4MB in size and consumes less data in loading content in the apps.

Pros

Material Design UI.
More than 25+ different Sports updates at one place.
Separate section for live and trending news.
Appropriate sharing options.
In-app text reading is great.
Responsive UI with fast navigation.

Cons

No Comment system.
In-App images can’t be saved.
No option to change font style and size.

Areas needing Improvement

Comment system (like Disqus) should be implemented in the app to encourage interaction among readers. A widget system can be implemented so that readers get live updates on their device’s home screen. An option to change the font style and size in the content would be great.

Xperia Z1 Compact D5503 has got a new 14.5.A.0.283 firmware update (only for the carrier handsets) in Austria and Germany region on T-Mobile AT and Telekom.de carriers respectively. Last firmware to hit the global variant of Xperia Z1 Compact was 14.5.A.0.270 build.

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 14.5.A.0.283 firmware is also certified for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra also thought roll out on global variants of these devices is not confirmed for the time being.

Xperia Keyboard 6.6.A.0.30 version was a major update and brought larger spacebar for easier typing, numeric row for the input of numbers on tablets, new language support for Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Georgian, and Tatar and Phonepad layout for Xperia Z2. Sony Xperia Z4v coming to Verizon USA in summer 2015

Sony Mobile launched Xperia Z4 exclusively for the Japanese market and now it is heading to USA. Xperia Z4v is coming to Verizon Wireless this summer 2015 in USA officially. Earlier Sony Mobile launched Xperia Z3v on Verizon Wireless in USA. You can check out more details on Verizon here.

Sony Xperia Z4v will feature the similar specs like Xperia Z4 (except for some minor changes). Xperia Z4v will be available for purchase from online stores and dedicated shops in white and black color units this summer in USA and customers will be able to choose a few “made of Xperia accessories” from Otterbox, Incipio, Case-Mate, and Tech21.

Sony Mobile has launched another promotional Xperia theme viz. Xperia Pixels Theme to promote the upcoming movie “Pixels” (2015). You get pixelated navigation keys, icons, and yellow colored themed UI.

Xperia Pixels theme work fine on Xperia devices running Android 4.4 KitKat whereas on Lollipop running Xperia devices it is not functioning properly.

Sony India to hold press conference on 26 June – Xperia Z3+ Launching?

Sony Mobile is holding a press conference on 26 June in India. Earlier Sony India had a press conference on 26 May where we saw Xperia M4 Aqua Dual and Xperia C4 Dual getting launched and this time on 26 June we can expect Xperia Z3+ getting launched in India.

Annotation on the invite reads as “Block Your Date, Friday 26 June 2015“; event will be held in New Delhi. As Sony mentioned that Xperia Z3+ will see a global launch therefore seeing Xperia Z3+ getting launched in India on 26 June makes sense.

Sony introduced a new Xperia Style Portrait camera app which was spotted on Xperia C4 and Xperia M4 recently has got some new stylish effects i.e. Mystery, Paint & Sunshine. All three Xperia Style portrait app effects can be downloaded from Play Store now.

For the time being only users who have installed Xperia Style portrait app (Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4) as one of the camera-addon on their Xperia can use these effects.

Sony Smart Connect app 5.7.18.401 updated – Sony BKB50, SBH70 headset now supported

Sony Smart Connect app has got a new update in the form of 5.7.18.401 version over the older 5.7.16.312 version (which brought material design UI to the app). Sony Smart Connect app 5.7.18.401 now supports Sony BKB50 Bluetooth Keyboard (for Xperia Z4 Tablet).

It also supports now Sony SBH70 Bluetooth headset and smart headset. This update also brings usual bugs fixing and performance enhancement to the app.

Sony Album app has got a new update in the form of 7.2.A.0.18 version older 7.2.A.0.14 version. Sony Album 7.2.A.0.18 app update is a minor update which brought usual bug fixes and performance enhancement.

Recently Sony introduced a “help” option under settings allowing users to views tips and tricks to use the Album app along with new updated full-screen layout.

Sony Lifelog app has been updated on Play Store in the form of 2.8.A.0.16 version over the beta 2.8.B.0.6 version which was rolled a few days back. Sony Lifelog 2.8.A.0.16 app update brings huge improvements in power consumption, especially for Android Lollipop users.

Sony Lifelog 2.8.A.0.16 app features the new login UI and the “Insight card” feature becomes official now. Sony Lifelog app now integrates with Spotify and will show songs which user have listened on it.

Sony’s latest flagship Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z3+ Dual are soon going to hit markets whereas Xperia Z4 is now available in Japan from today. Xperia Z3+ is launched in white, black, aqua green and copper color variants.

Xperia Z3+ features Snapdragon 810 64 bit Octa core processor (2 GHz) with 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage (with micro SD card support). It features 20.7 MP camera 25mm wide-angle, 1 / 2.3 inch size sensor (ISO 12800). It features 5.1 MP front camera (25mm wide-angle). Xperia Z3+ weighs 144 grams and is 6.9mm thin with 5.2″ FHD Display (1920 x 1080 resolution, no 2K) packed in an aluminum frame with glass back.
