Sony has officially updated Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop today in the form of 14.5.A.0.242 firmware build getting released worldwide. Xperia Z3 Dual has also got Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 23.1.1.E.0.1 build today.

14.5.A.0.242 Lollipop firmware on Xperia Z Ultra is confirmed in regions like Indonesia, Malaysia, MENA Arabic, Thailand, Ukraine for C6802 (not seen in India yet); for C6833 in France, MENA Latin, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and for C6806 in USA.

Sony has rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update in the form of 14.5.A.0.242 firmware on Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra worldwide whereas Lollipop 23.1.1.E.0.1 firmware has been released for Xperia Z3 Dual variant globally just now, as mentioned by Sony officially.

Xperia Z1 14.5.A.0.242 Lollipop firmware update is now confirmed rolling in regions like Slovenia, Austria, Sweden, Hong Kong, MENA Arabic, MENA Latin, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, UAE for C6903. Update has not been reported for Xperia Z1 C6902 yet (neither in India).

Xperia Z4/Sony E6553 Adreno 430 GPU Benchmark results appear

Xperia Z4/Sony S6553 has been spotted in GFXBenchmark earlier where its specifications appeared for the first time and now its Adreno 430 GPU benchmark results have appeared. Xperia Z4 is believed to feature Snapdragon 810 64-Bit octa-core chipset (1.9 GHz) along with Adreno 430 GPU.

Xperia Z4 Adreno 430 GPU Benchmark results via GFXBenchmark Manhattan 3.1 shows it ran high 1115 frames with 18.0 Fps speed onscreen and 1002 frames with 16.2 Fps speed offscreen.

High Resolution Xperia Z4 Image leaked

Earlier today we saw two Xperia Z4 renders showing its front display panel and now a high resolution Xperia Z4 image has been leaked showing the upper half of front display. Though nothing is now hidden regarding how Xperia Z4 looks still Xperia Z4 pictures are getting leaked frequently.

@OnLeaks has once again leaked Xperia Z4 pic and it seems another high resolution image is on verge of coming up soon showing full front panel display. Xperia Z4 is Sony E6553.

Xperia Z4 looks very similar to Xperia Z2 in terms of design from front, though notification light is similar to Xperia Z3. Xperia Z4 features no flaps/ports on the right side of device.

Sony Xperia Z4 is getting leaked again and again now. 2 new pics have surfaces showing Xperia Z4 front panel display. Recently we saw Xperia Z4 in an alleged hands on pics and now some more internal renders of phone has arrived.

Xperia Z4 is Sony E6553 which looks very similar to Xperia Z2 from front thought it features notification light like Xperia Z3. Xperia Z4 will feature capless micro USB port and only one single flap port on left side of device.

Xperia Z3 Compact 23.1.A.0.726, 23.2.A.0.278 firmware rolling now – Android 5.0.2 update

Xperia Z3 Compact has seen two new firmware updates today in form of 23.1.A.0.726 & 23.2.A.0.278 firmware build (Android 5.0.2 update). 23.2.A.0.278 firmware is confirmed on Xperia Z3 Compact D5803 in Germany on a carrier handset and same build is also confirmed for Xperia Z3 users in Germany.

23.1.A.0.726 firmware update is confirmed rolling on Xperia Z3 Compact D5803 and D5833 in Turkey, Ukraine, USA, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Australia. Both newly released firmwares are bug fixing updates.

Xperia Z3 Android 5.0.2 23.2.A.0.278, 23.1.A.0.726 firmware rolling

New 23.2.A.0.278 firmware firmware which was recently certified for Xperia Z3 (the then tagged as “Android 5.1”) is now officially rolling and is confirmed as Android 5.0.2 only. 23.2.A.0.278 firmware is confirmed rolling for Xperia Z3 D6603 in Germany (Telekom carrier). Update follows Android 5.0.2 23.1.A.0.690 firmware update for Xperia Z3.

Another bug fixing Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update in form of 23.1.A.0.726 firmware is rolling on Xperia Z3 Compact D5803 & D5833 whereas 23.2.A.0.278 firmware is also confirmed for Xperia Z3 Compact Germany users.

Sony Z Ultra C6806 GPE Android 5.1 Lollipop LMY47D update rolling

Sony Z Ultra C6806 Google Play Edition is getting Android 5.1 Lollipop update now in form of LMY47D build. Update is released as an OTA and confirmed in USA region already. Sony’s Xperia Z Ultra is still on Android 4.4.4 and waiting for Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update (14.5.A.0.242 firmware for which has already been certified).

What changes exactly the Android 5.1 Lollipop LMY47D build brought is not known clearly. Go ahead and update your Sony Z Ultra GPE C6806 now, update is still seeding though.

How to flash Xperia Z2/Z3 Lollipop 23.1.A.0.690 ftf using Flashtool Manually ?

Sony rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet globally yesterday and many users from different regions around the world are now confirming it. So far only Xperia Z3 series and Xperia Z2 series have got Lollipop update.

Yesterday we explained how to download Lollipop firmware using XperiFirm tool, if you haven’t got it yet and today we will let you know how to flash manually Lollipop firmware ftf on your Xperia device.

How to flash Xperia Z2 Lollipop 23.1.A.0.690 ftf?

XperiFirm Tool is used to download Lollipop (or any ordinary firmware) firmware bundle and then creating “firmware ftf” using Flashtool (steps mentioned in this tutorial, use XperiFirm tool if you haven’t got firmware update yet via PC Companion or OTA or you just need ftf file).

How to download Lollipop firmware via XperiFirm Tool and creating ftf using Flashtool?

Now we will use Flashtool to flash manually firmware ftf.

Facts to know:

Flashing firmware ftf file on your Xperia device doesn’t void warranty.
Flashing ftf file doesn’t require unlocking bootloader of your Xperia device.
No root needed.

Pre-requisites:

Xperia device.
USB cable.
PC.
Firmware ftf file.

You should do?

Take a backup of all your data via PC Companion.

NOTE: We will explain the tutorial taking Xperia Z2 and flashing 23.1.A.0.690 ftf on it. Steps are similar for every Xperia handset on any firmware.

Step 1 – Download Flashtool

Download Flashtool version 0.9.18.5 (or the latest available) from here.

After downloading above Flashtool, install it.

On opening it, it may ask you to move files stored in F:\Flashtool\firmwares to F:\Users\PC NAME\.flashTool\firmware (Do move the ftf stored if asked to do so).

Wait then till it syncs the devices list (if it don’t syncs because you are not connected to internet, then leave it. It is not mandatory to do sync).

Step 2 – Download Firmware Ftf file

For D6502 INDIA region

Download D6502_23.1.A.0.690_INDIA_GIZMOBOLT.ftf

Step 3 – Put your above download firmware ftf in “F:\Users\PC NAME\.flashTool\firmware” folder

Additional Step :- Install Drivers

Install Drivers from the folder named “Flashtool Drivers” in the location where Flashtool is installed OR just install PC Companion on your PC and connect your device with it and then remove it.

Step 4 – Open FlashTool

Now Open Flashtool. See the “Black Lightning Thunder icon” at the top left corner. Click on it.

Step 5 – Choose Flashmode from Bootmode chooser

Now choose flashmode from given two options.

Step 6 – You will now automatically see your download firmware ftf file in the “firmware” section (left hand side) of Flashtool window. Select your firmware.

Step 7 – Wipe data if you wish

See the right hand side of window under the “Wipe” tag, all three options are checked if, will delete all user data.

So if you don’t want to delete all user user data and don’t want a factory reset then you should uncheck them.

Wiping full data is recommended, though (if you have backup).

Do it: Click on “Flash” button.

Step 8 – Preparing files for flashing

After clicking on “Flash” Button in above step, now FlashTool will prepare firmware ftf selected for flashing.

Step 9 – Connecting phone in FlashMode.

Important: Now enable USB Debugging on your phone and enable unknown sources option in your Xperia device and switch it off.

When prompted the notification of connecting your phone, connect it in flashmode (as chosen above)

How to do ? Press Volume down button and then insert usb in phone, you will see red and green light blink once, it means phone is connected in flashmode now.

As soon as phone is detected by Flashtool, flashing beings and wait till it is finished.

WARNING: Do not cancel the process in between once flashing has started or it will result in boot loop or device not booting up at all.

Disconnect phone as soon as flashing is finished.

Step – 10 Disconnect phone

Now reboot your phone. First reboot after the update will take some time.

You must have Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 23.1.A.0.690 firmware installed on your Xperia Z2 now.

How to download Lollipop firmware via XperiFirm Tool?

Sony rolls its firmware update either via Update Center app or via PC Companion, from PC Companion you can extract the download firmware file and it can be converted into ftf file which is used for manual flashing. XperiFirm is a tool which allows you to download firmware directly as soon as it is released from Sony servers. By using XperiFirm you can also find out which firmware is available in which region.

All those users who either have not got any update yet or want to download it for their device as soon as it released (before reaching their region), we have made a tutorial on how to download Lollipop firmware via XperiFirm Tool and flash it using flashtool.

How to download Lollipop firmware via XperiFirm Tool?

In the below tutorial we will download Xperia Z2 D6502 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 23.1.A.0.690 firmware for India region.

[ UPDATE ] How to flash Xperia Z2/Z3 23.1.A.0.690 ftf using Flashtool Manually ?

AIM: To download the latest available Firmware (LOLLIPOP) for our device using XperiFirm tool and get its firmware ftf for manual flashing using Flashtool.

Step1: Download the XperiFirm Tool from here. Install it on your PC. Open it now.

Step2: After opening XperiFirm, from the left side where device list is displayed; select your device > double click on it to display the regions associated with that model number. Click on “Check All”.

Step3: Select your concerned region from the displayed list. On the extreme right side column, all available firmwares list will be displayed. Click on the firmware you want to download (in our case Xperia Z2 Lollipop 23.1.A.0.690 firmware).

Step4: Click Download in the new window opened. It will ask you to choose the folder where the downloaded firmware will be stored so create a folder in your PC for that and wait till it is finished. Do check the box saying “Unpack automatically“.

Step5: Once firmware is downloaded, it will say “the firmware has been downloaded and/or unpacked successfully.

Open the folder where it is downloaded, you will see the firmware unpacked as shown below:

Above downloaded file is not in “ftf” format so we need Xperia Flashtool to bundle it into a firmware ftf file.

Step6: Download Xperia Flashtool from here. Install it.

On opening it, it may ask you to move files stored in F:\Flashtool\firmwares to F:\Users\PC NAME\.flashTool\firmware (Do move the ftf stored if asked to do so).

Wait then till it syncs the devices list.

Step7: In Flashtool window, click Tools > Bundles > Create.

Step8: Select source folder (This is the folder where the downloaded firmware from XperiFirm tool is stored) and select the main file inside the folder.

Step9: In the “Folder List” section of Flashtool window you will see all files listed of that chosen folder.

Step10: Now we will name our firmware. Double tap the area where “Device” is written. It will ask you to choose your device variant and then the exact model number. Choose it and then it will be displayed in “Device section“.

Step11: Under “Branding” section, write the region name.

Step12: Under “version” section, type the firmware number.

Step13: Now Select all files from “folder list” section and then click on this icon “->” and you will see all files getting listed on the right side column “firmware content“.

Step14: Click on “Create” button. Now firmware ftf file will be created.

Step15: Once firmware ftf file is created you will see “bundle creation finished” written on the Flashtool screen.

Step16: Now go back to F:\Users\PC NAME\.flashTool\firmware folder and there you will find the new firmware ftf file created.

Step17: Now you can flash this firmware ftf file using Flashtool (Tutorial here).

How to flash Xperia Z2/Z3 23.1.A.0.690 ftf using Flashtool Manually ?

Now finally we have our firmware ftf file created, in our case we created Xperia Z2 23.1.A.0.690 firmware ftf.

Sony Mobile in a tweet made today, confirmed that Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact & Xperia Z Ultra will be getting Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update next week and Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 will be next to get update.

Earlier today Sony confirmed the global rollout for Xperia Z2 Tablet and Xperia Z2 and now many regions like Vietnam, Singapore, Ukraine, Thailand, MENA Arabic, Generic LAM, USA, India have already got update on Xperia Z2 D6502 today.

Xperia C4 Dual E5333 Cosmos pic leaks

Yesterday a pic of Xperia C4 in turquoise color leaked and today almost confirmation has come that Sony Cosmos is Xperia C4 with model number Sony E53XX. It is also believed that dual SIM variant of Xperia C4 will also be released with model number Sony E5333 and Type Number PM-0862-BV.

Sony E5503 “Lavender” specs leaks – To feature MT6752 Mediatek SoC, FHD Display

A new Sony device “Sony Lavender” aka “Sony E5503” is about to hit markets soon, it seems. Sony E5503 info has been leaked just now via @UpLeaks. Sony Lavender E5503 is expected to feature Mediatek MT6752 64 bit Octa-Core processor and 1080p resolution.

Sony E5503 “Lavender” has Type Number PM-0861-BV and is running 29.x firmware (hopefully Android Lollipop). It seems Sony is gearing up for another mid-range Xperia device powered by MediaTek SoC. Leaked Sony Cosmos (aka Xperia C4) is also expected to feature MediaTek SoC.

Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet Lollipop update rolling now globally

Earlier in mid-March Sony rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for Xperia “Z3” and Xperia “Z2” series but the update was limited to only Nordics and Baltic regions. As per the latest announcement made by Sony Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update is now rolling globally for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet.

Just now, Xperia Z2 D6502/L50w has got Android 5.0.2 Lollipop (23.1.A.0.690 firmware) update in regions Vietnam, Singapore, Ukraine, Thailand, MENA Arabic, Generic LAM, USA, India. Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521 users are reporting Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update in Saudi Arabia and Thailand now.

Xperia C4 pic leaked in turquoise color

When it comes to upcoming Sony Xperia handsets, leaks never stop. Earlier today we saw Xperia Z4 hands on pics getting leaked along with Xperia Z4 20.7 MP Camera sample pic and now Xperia C4 render in turquoise color has been leaked.

Leakster claimed pic to be of Xperia C4, where we can see a front cam along with LED flash near right corner and a slim bottom bezel. It is expected to be released in white, black and turquoise color.

Xperia Z4 20.7 MP Camera Sample Pic Leaked

Earlier today we saw leaked Xperia Z4 hands on pics showing off full profile of device clearly and just now a 20.7 MP camera sample came in which is supposed to be taken by Xperia Z4. Xperia Z4 camera sample which has been leaked is taken in 20.7 MP camera mode, image size is 15.4 MB, resolution 5248×3936 (4:3 aspect ratio). It looks pic was taken somewhere in UK.

Leakster fills in info as the camera sample is taken from a pre-production model (and the device may take 2 more months for release) and firmware so camera quality is expected to be better at the later stage.

Xperia Z4 hands on pics leaked – Full profile revealed

Sony E6553 aka Xperia Z4 has been spotted in number of leaks so far, ranging from leaked benchmarks to internal renders. Newest Xperia Z4 hands on leaked pics show the full profile of the device and now we know what Sony has put for next Xperia flagship smartphone.

Xperia Z4 hands on pics confirm many things we knew already. Xperia Z4 leaked pics shows a tiny notification light at the left corner of the top bezel (like Xperia Z3), speakers positioned like Xperia Z2, a capless micro-USB port at the bottom side of the device.

Leaked Sony E6553/Xperia Z4 pictures confirm 20.7 MP rear cam & Snapdragon MSM8994 processor

New pictures of Xperia Z4 has been leaked online which confirms that it will have similar 20.7 MP rear cam like Xperia Z1, Z2 & Z3 (1/2.3-inch Sony G lens). Xperia Z4, earlier appeared as Sony E6553 in GFXBenchmark and the new leaked pictures also confirm the model number.

Leaked pics shows Sony E6553 running Snapdragon MSM8994 processor which is Snapdragon 810 processor. As per GFXBenchmark report, Sony E6553 was spotted running Snapdragon 810 64-Bit octa-core chipset (1.9 GHz) with Adreno 430 GPU and 3 GB RAM.

Xperia Z1s C6916 14.5.B.0.220 Lollipop firmware certified

Android Lollipop 14.5.A.0.242 firmware has already been certified on PTCRB for Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact & Z Ultra and now Xperia Z1s C6916 (T-Mobile LTE USA variant) has also got Android Lollipop firmware certified at PTCRB in form of 14.5.B.0.220 build.

14.5.B.0.220 firmware will move Xperia Z1s to Android 5.0.2 hopefully from Android 4.4.4 KitKat 14.4.B.0.56 firmware. No ETA is there when the update will be rolled on the carrier handset.

Surprisingly a new 23.2.A.0.278 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z3 & Xperia Z3 Compact, which possibly looks Android 5.1 Lollipop update over current Android 5.0.2 23.1.A.0.690 firmware build for Xperia “Z3” series. 23.2.A.0.278 firmware has been certified only for Xperia Z3 D6653 and Xperia Z3 Compact D5833 only for the time being.

Sony has already rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on whole Xperia “Z3” series in Nordics and Baltic regions whereas now it is being rolled globally region by region for both Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 series.

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 19.3.A.0.468 firmware has been certified for Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. Same 19.3.A.0.468 firmware is also certified for Xperia C3 also. A few days back Sony mentioned that they will be rolling Android 5.0.2 Android Lollipop update for Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 along with Xperia “Z” series.
