Sony has updated its Sketch app to 6.0.A.0.5 version which brings material design UI look. Earlier today Sony updated Smart Connect app to 5.7.14.218 version, which brings support for Android 5.0, it seems Sony is now working on updating its media apps for Android 5.0 support.

Sony Sketch 6.0.A.0.5 app allows you to share your sketches and inviting others to try the app. It also brings usual bug fixes and performance enhancement. You need android 4.2 to install the app.

Xperia E4 Review Leaked: Hands On, Camera & Video Samples included

A few days back Sony Xperia E2105 ( prototype model ) got leaked online via TeleGuru which revealed a few pics of Xperia E4 and a bit of its specifications. The same source have now come up with full hands on Xperia E4 review. Sony Xperia E4 is one of the first models for year 2015 of Sony which has come to light so much about its existence.

As per the source, Xperia E4 will feature 5″ LCD 540 x 960 resolution display, Mediatek MT6582 Quad Core 1.3 GHz processor, GPU Mali-400MP4, 1 GB RAM. Xperia E4 will have 5 MP rear camera. Xperia E4 features a little bit more round cornered design with plastic ( ceramics ) finish at back.

Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for Android Wear recently landed on Moto 360, LG G Watch, Samsung Gear Live and now it has been rolling for Sony SmartWatch 5 SWR50. Xperia Z4 Ultra, Xperia Z4 Compact full specifications leaked allegedly

A moment back Xperia E4 pictures were allegedly leaked along with its specifications and now a leak on Xperia Z4 Ultra and Xperia Z4 Compact specifications have come up. Earlier existence of Xperia Z4, Xperia Z4 Compact, Xperia Z4 Ultra and Xperia Z4 Tablet have been confirmed from same source ( Android Origin ).

Xperia Z4 series is expected from Sony seeing the previous lineup but will they feature the same specifications as posted below is a matter of question right now. It can’t be guaranteed that below posted specifications are true or false so take it with a pinch of salt for the time being. Let’s see what Sony is holding for new Xperia Z4 series.

Xperia Z4 Compact Specifications

Xperia Z4 Compact successor of Xperia Z3 Compact will be featuring Snapdragon 810 processor chipset, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage, 20.7 MP rear cam & 5 MP front cam with 1080p FHD video recording, S-Master HX digital amplifier, stereo speakers, IP 68 ratings, LTE category 9, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC with Qi wireless charging support.

Xperia Z4 Compact is supposed to feature 4.7″ FHD display, battery power unknown for the time being.

Xperia Z4 Ultra Specifications

Xperia Z4 Ultra seems to be the most wanted successor handset till now over parent Xperia Z Ultra. Xperia Z4 Ultra will feature 6.4″ QHD display, design wise it is expected like Xperia Z3, Snapdragon 810 processor with 3 GB RAM, 16 MP rear cam with smaller sensor than Xperia Z4.

It is expected to sport batter power b/w 3500-4000 mAh. Interestingly Xperia Z4 Ultra will have stylus support just like Samsung Galaxy Note.

As per the source Xperia Z4 Ultra and Xperia Z4 Compact may see the launch in Q2 of 2015 and Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z4 Tablet may get launched earlier than those two.

Sony Xperia E4 has been leaked exclusively along with the pictures of prototype handset running Android 4.4.4 KitKat version. As per the source who leaked the Xperia E4 pics says at present the tested Xperia E4 don’t have Android 5.0 Lollipop running. A few days back Sony E2105 ( Single SIM ) and E2115 ( Dual SIM ) appeared at Indonesian Postel website. Sony has chosen the “E” series alphabet for year 2015 like we have seen “D” and “C” getting used in year 2014 and 2013 respectively.

Android 5.0 23.1.X.X.XXX firmware build to come on Xperia Z3

Sony promised to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop update on whole Xperia “Z” series handsets from early Jan 2015. Not much details are known yet of Sony’s Android 5.0 firmware whereas the very first 23.1.X.X.XXX firmware build which is expected to come on Xperia “Z3” series handsets as Android 5.0 Lollipop update is spotted at Handset Detection.

XDA user gbil posted today that Sony/D6603/D6603:5.0/23.1.X.X.XXX firmware is in testing now which is Android 5.0 Lollipop ( in past same user has posted classified info regarding future firmware updates, so it seems credible ).

Xperia Z3 series Android 5.0 23.1.X.X.XXX firmware build

23.1.A.0.75 firmware is spotted ( at HD ) running on Xperia Z3 D6603 as Android 5.0 Lollipop version.

23.1.A.0.131 firmware is spotted ( at HD ) running on Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet SGP621 as Android 5.0 Lollipop version.

Sony Z Ultra GPe got its Android 5.0 Lollipop update a few days back and recently Sony posted a video of Xperia Z3, Z2, Z1 running AOSP Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM officially.

Exact time frame of roll out of Android 5.0 Lollipop update is not known yet but is surely in testing now as seen from above firmware builds.

It will be great to see if Sony rolls Android 5.0 Lollipop update on any other device except “Z” series handsets like Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia M2, Xperia C3, Xperia T3 etc.

How to Pair ?

To pair the case with your Xperia Z3, activate NFC on your device and then bring it near the below shown in built NFC tag on SCR24 case. It will prompt you to download the various smart windows widgets and apps which can be accessed from smart window without opening the cover.

If you look closely, there is a circular mark in below pic; it is where magnetic sensor is placed.

How to place your device ?

Peel of the sheet from the inner side of back flap of case and place your device on the adhesive gel pad.

Remove the protective layer from smart window.

USB and magnetic charging dock port can be accessed without opening the case. Check the below pic without Xperia Z3 showing that USB cable and charging dock pins can be easily inserted.

Xperia Z3 SCR24 case vs Xperia Z2 SCR10 case design

Sony introduced Smart Window cover for the first time ( for Xperia Z3 ) and previously they launched SCR10 case for Xperia Z2. Both cases are made up of PU Leather material.

Sony branding is placed on front flap on SCR10 case for Xperia Z2 and on back side of SCR24 case for Xperia Z3.

Ports openings are not accessible in SCR10 case ( while case is closed ).

SCR10 can be used as desk stand while the same functionality is absent in SCR24 case.

A new version of Xperia Home is now available in form of 7.0.A.1.7. Xperia Home 7.0.A.1.7 seems a bit more fast and responsive than previous version. This version is not available via OTA instead extracted out from latest Xperia 4.4.4 KitKat update ( Xperia Z2 Tablet ).

You need rooted Xperia handset running android 4.4 KitKat to install Xperia Home 7.0.A.1.7 version. It is not working on non rooted Xperia handsets. Either go for a manual installation or push in system/app folder ( set permissions as rw- r– r– and reboot ).

Xperia Z2 23.0.1.A.3.12 & 23.0.1.A.4.44 firmware for Xperia Z2 Tablet rolling

A new 23.0.1.A.3.12 firmware hit Xperia Z2 handsets ( D6503 ) in Taiwan region exclusively and 23.0.1.A.4.44 firmware update hit Xperia Z2 Tablet in Taiwan region on VMo TW operator. Another firmware 23.0.1.A.4.30 was spotted rolling for Xperia Z2 Tablet recently.

It is not clear yet whether above mentioned firmware updates will hit global variants of Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet, for the time being they are only available for carrier handsets in Taiwan only.

A few days back we posted Xperia Christmas Theme and Xperia Matrix theme and now from the same develop two new cool themes have come up viz. Xperia Winter Theme & Xperia Football Theme where former one is paid theme and later one is free theme. You need Xperia handset running android 4.3+ to install themes, working on both rooted as well non rooted handsets.

Xperia Winter Themes gives you customized snow flakes design home screen and lock screen wallpaper, winter related navigation buttons and themed UI. Xperia Football theme gives you football field design home screen and lock screen wallpaper with similar style themed UI.

[ REVIEW ] Sony BSP10 Bluetooth Speaker – Hands On

Sony BSP10 Bluetooth Speaker made its first appearance at IFA 2014 event along with Sony SBH60 Stereo Bluetooth Headset, both being stylish Bluetooth powered accessories. It alone gives you wireless speaker functionality with superior audio and hands-free calling, compatible with a variety of Bluetooth powered smartphones/tablets.

It is available in white and black color priced at $125 ( including VAT )/ £79.99 / Rs 7728 from Clove UK. We tested it with our Xperia Z2, Xperia SP & Nexus 7 2013 with no hiccups experienced in connecting. Let’s take a closer look at Sony BSP10 Bluetooth Speaker.

Sony BSP10 Bluetooth Speaker – Profile

You can see Bluetooth and NFC logo on top of Sony BSP10 Bluetooth Speaker and beside Bluetooth icon there is an LED which is lighted when the speaker is paired with any smartphone/tablet.

There is volume increase & decrease buttons ( in form of +/- icons ) and a button to receive/end calls beside which there is hole for inbuilt microphone.

Inside the USB port there is also an LED which glows during charging.

How to Pair it ?

It supports one connect pairing via Bluetooth & NFC. Press the power button for about 2-4 seconds on Sony BSP10 Bluetooth Speaker, a white
LED glows on then pair it with your device/smartphone/tablet; once paired light green LED glows.

You need Sony Smart Connect app to check the battery status of the speaker including music playback and standby time. Creating dedicated events functionality is alos available via Smart Connect app.

Bluetooth range is 10 meters for the speaker. If you leave it idle not connected to any device it goes in automatic power saving sleep mode.

Charging/Playback Time

Charging Period

It took us around 1 hours and 35 minutes to charge it fully via 1.5 A Sony AC Adapter, which in Sony’s Smart Connect app shows 7 hours of music playback time and 24 days in standby. It can also be charged via PC.

Music Playback Period

Sony BSP10 Bluetooth Speaker can play music for not more than 5 hours ( battery exhausts in b/w 4-5 hours of playback ).

How to Charge it ?

It supports charging via micro USB connector or via Qi Wireless plate ( use Sony’s WCH10 Wireless charging plate ). While charging via USB cable, red LED glows and once it is fully charged green LED glows beside USB connecting point.

Call Quality

Whenever a call comes, a dedicated ring tone is played via Sony BSP10 Bluetooth Speaker, press the call button to pick up the call and press it again to end it.

Make sure whenever you are using it as hands free, increase the volume of speaker. One may need to speak a bit louder as inbuilt microphone seems not very much responsive wheres as caller’s incoming sound quality is good.

Music Playback quality

Music Playback quality is very good as compared to Sony SRS-BTV5 speaker. If you have connected it via Xperia device and playing music in Walkman app then under audio settings enable Clear Audio+ and Dynamic normaliser option for better sound.
