17.1.1.A.0.438 firmware was certified for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet in mid June on PTCRB and now it seems 17.1.1.A.0.438 firmware has started hitting Xperia Z2 in South East Asia region as reported by an user at XDA. At present Xperia Z2 users are suffering from many issues like overheating, touch response issues, laggy camera in 4K mode.

17.1.1.A.0.438 firmware update improves tap to wake up feature which was not working properly previously and 4K video recording is still overheating as reported. No other major changes are noticed in the 17.1.1.A.0.438 firmware update. It seems currently 17.1.1.A.0.438 firmware is seeding and users will be getting it soon globally.

Watch Google I/O 2014 live stream from Moscone center, San Francisco

Google I/O 2014 event will soon start at Moscone center, San Francisco and live stream feed will be available on YouTube at 9.30 PM IST | 9 AM PST | 4 PM GMT | 12 PM ET, 25 June 2014. It is rumored that Google will be unveiling newer Android version 5.0 ( possibly naming it as “Lollipop” ).

Google’s Android head Sundar Pichai will be presenting a keynote to Google developers around the world. Newer android version, successor to Nexus 7 Tablet 2013, android wear devices and a lot have been speculated for the Google I/O 2014 event. Seeing a successor for Nexus 5 will be a surprise for us if it comes anyhow. Improvements in Google Play Services and Android UI is definitely promised.

Sony D5833, Sony D2403 spotted at Indonesian Postel

It seems we are going to see number of new Sony Xperia handsets in upcoming months as just now two new Sony models i.e. Sony D5833 and Sony D2403 are spotted at Indonesian Postel website. Sony D6653, Sony D2502 and Sony D2533 were also seen a few days back on same postel.

Indonesian Postel has a strong reliable history of certifying Xperia handsets which were later launched in market. It seems Sony is planning to launch many mid range Xperia devices in market. Sony D5833 seems a mid range Xperia devices from the naming convention while Sony D2403 has been spotted in past on GFX Benchmark stating it a 4.4″ display device, S400 1.2 GHz quad core processor, Adreno 305 GPU.

Sony MBH20 Mono Bluetooth Headset coming soon with Bluetooth 3.0

Sony is all set to launch another Bluetooth headset i.e. Sony MBH20, Mono Bluetooth headset powered by Bluetooth 3.0 surprisingly not Bluetooth 4.0. Sony MBH20 looks like a regular Bluetooth headset from which you can make calls handsfree, listen to music after pairing it with your device. Sony MBH20 is a successor of Sony MBH10 Mono Bluetooth headset.

Sony MBH20 is listed on Sony’s site but is not available for sale yet. Sony MBH20 will be seen in Black and White colored units. It is 45.5 x 17 x 8.5 mm in dimensions, 8 grams in weight, slot for micro USB connector for charging. You can pair it with any Bluetooth enabled smartphone, tablet.

Install My Xperia Theme, WALKMAN X Theme on rooted Xperia device

Earlier today we posted Xperia Zig Zag themes which follows colored AOSP navigation buttons and now we are listing two new custom Xperia theme viz.. My Xperia Theme and WALKMAN X Theme for rooted Xperia users on android 4.3 jelly bean and android 4.4.2 KitKat version from XDA users Pablosch23 and ibanez7 respectively. You need root access as the major requirement to install both themes otherwise you will end up getting only lockscreen and homescreen wallpaper changing.

Sony Lifelog app is an add-on app for Sony SmartBand SWR10 which shows a detailed catalog for your daily activities. Lifelog 2.0.A.0.12 app update is available over Play Store for all devices.

Sony D6653 spotted on Indonesian Postel – New flagship model ?

A few days back we spotted Sony D2502 and Sony D2533 on Indonesian Postel and now a new model Sony D6653 is spotted dated today. Sony D6653 resembles to Sony D6563 which is Sony Xperia Z2a Taiwan model. Sony D6653 seems purely a new Xperia model so far if we look at model’s naming convention.

Sony D6653 seems a high end Xperia model to us, probability of it being Xperia Z3 is very less and being Xperia Z2 Ultra is not in option for the time being. Last year we saw Sony launching Xperia Z Ultra in June and this year Xperia T3 came. We are not expecting any more flagship device from Sony till September.

Sony has launched its third Xperia theme in Play Store today as Xperia The LEGO MOVIE Theme as a promotional item for movie The Lego, which is 3D animated computer movie. In past Sony has launched Amazing Spider Man 2 theme and FIFA World Cup 2014 theme. Sony introduced downloading and installing of Xperia themes first on android 4.3 update on Xperia “Z” series.

Xperia The LEGO MOVIE Theme is for all Xperia devices running android 4.3+ and for rooted handsets running ROM which has support for Xperia theme engine. Xperia The LEGO MOVIE Theme carries yellow, red and blue as the main color scheme of the UI which is too bright for viewing.

Sony updated Info-eye app to version 1.4.10 from previous build 1.3.07. Sony Info-eye app is a camera add on for Social Smart Camera app which allows you to gather info about the objects, texts, bar codes around you by clicking a snap of them and then concerned result is displayed on screen.

Sony Info-eye 1.4.10 app brings save search history option and sync the info with your Sony Entertainment Network Account, improved UI with larger tiles for better viewing and usual bug fixes. Sony Info-eye 1.4.10 app is confirmed rolling on Xperia Z1, Z2, Z, ZL etc as an OTA update of 21 MB size.

Though the app version varies from device to device, version 6.4.A.1.24 is available on Xperia devices running android 4.3+ version. New improved keyboard layout has been added for Thai with improved backup and sync feature.

Towelroot exploit – Root Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact, M, Z, ZL, SP, M2, T, TX

Renowned developer and white hacker geohot has come up with a fantastic rooting tool named Towelroot which has successfully rooted Xperia handsets like Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact, M, Z, ZL, SP, M2, T, TX running android 4.3 and android 4.4.2 version. Towelroot exploit is using a apk file which after installing has successfully rooted many Xperia handsets so far as reported by the users. Best one click root method, roots in 30 seconds.

We have created a handy guide to root Xperia Z1 using Towelroot exploit which is confirmed working on Xperia Z1 C6902, C6903 running android 4.4.2 .757 firmware version. Rooting voids warranty so make sure you are ware of this, in order to get warranty back you need to re-install the stock firmware using PC Companion, SUS or flashing via flashtool.

Root Xperia Z1 / Z1 Compact using Towelroot exploit

Below method is confirmed working on Xperia Z1 C6902 / C6903, Xperia Z1 Compact D5503, Xperia Z Ultra. Works on locked bootloader handsets. It should work on all android 4.3+ versions.

For Xperia Z1 C6902 / C6903, Xperia Z1 Compact D5503, Xperia Z Ultra Prerequisites

Enable ‘unknown sources’ option. Go to Settings > security > enable unknown sources.
Enable ‘USB Debugging’. Go to Settings > Developer settings > enable USB debugging.

Connect phone to PC. Make sure your Phone’s ADB drivers are installed in PC successfully.

Step 1: Download the below mentioned file, extract it in your PC. You will get two content named : folder ‘files‘ and install.bat file.

Download z1cRoot v1.zip

Step 2: Go to Towelroot site and download the tr.apk ( ignore any security warning ) file. Click the lambda image icon to download.

Step 3: Put the tr.apk file downloaded in above step inside files/tr.apk

Step 4: Now click the install.bat file to run the cmd program.

Your phone will be recognized and the process will run. Follow the onscreen instructions displayed in cmd window.

Step 5: Towelroot app will open in your phone, tap on “make it rain” button and your phone will be rebooted in 15 seconds.

Your phone is now rooted. Reboot it. Download the Root Checker app from Play Store to verify for root access.

In case if you are getting error like SU binaries are not updating then download the latest version of SuperUser app. Extract the apk from below mentioned file and install the apk. Open the app and update the binaries.

For Xperia M2, M, SP, T, TX, Z, ZL

To root Xperia M2, M, SP, T, TX, Z, ZL download the Towelroot apk and install it. Open it, tap on “make it rain” option and wait for onscreen instrcutions to come, device reboots, root access is there, update SU app from above mentioned link.

Verizon Xperia Z2 pic spotted on Sony Mobile Indonesia Facebook page

We have been hearing rumors lately about Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet getting launched on Verizon carrier in US, pics of Verizon Xperia Z2 has been spotted on Sony Korea site while Verizon Xperia Z2 Tablet press pictures were leaked by @evleaks in the past. We have just spotted the clear pic of Verizon Xperia Z2 on Sony Mobile Indonesia Facebook page.

Sony Mobile Indonesia posted a pic of Xperia Z2 over some upcoming photo contest where you can win Xperia Z2, Sony MDR-ZX110 AP headset and MAP vouchers. In the background of posted pic, wet Xperia Z2 is used with Verizon logo on top bezel and Sony logo on bottom bezel.

If rumors are to believed we may see Verizon Xperia Z2 coming in August ( Q3 ) of this year. Commercial name of Verizon Xperia Z2 is still not clear if it exists, seeing the scenario it may be named as Xperia Z2S.

Xperia T3 M50w images spotted at China’s TENAA – Network License Passed

A few days back Sony unveiled Xperia T3, 7mm slim device with 720p HD display, 1.4 GHz S 400 quad core processor chipset, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, 8 MP rear cam, 1.1 MP front cam, 2500 mAh embedded non-removable battery, weighing 148 grams. Stainless steel frame is used in Xperia T3 for the first time by Sony.

It seems now Xperia T3 M50w will be heading to Chinese market also very soon. Xperia T3 M50w images have been spotted at TENAA which is taken as Chinese FCC form ( network license also passed ). Xperia T3 global variant is expected to hit market next month, price of Xperia T3 is expected to be around price of Xperia T2 Ultra Dual.

Full Root Xperia Z2 locked bootloader via Community RootKit v01

Xperia Z1s C6916 T-Mobile variant got full root yesterday after a long time and today Xperia Z2 has got full root with the help of a root exploit script , developed and tested by XDA devs DooMLoRD, norti and xsacha. Xperia Z2 users here need to downgrade to 17.1.A.2.55, 17.1.A.2.69 firmware before they can use this root exploit script as it was patched when Sony rolled 17.1.1.A.0.402 firmware update.

Check the below mentioned tutorial by us to root Xperia Z2, make sure you are aware that rooting voids warranty as well as unlokcing bootloader also. Below mentioned tutorial must be only used for Xperia Z2 handset, don’t try it on Xperia Z2 Tablet or you will brick your tablet if done so.

Below mentioned guide will work on both locked as well as unlocked bootloader Xperia Z2 handsets. At present Community RootKit v01 will work on Windows PC only, v02 will be support Mac, Linux soon.

Downgrade Xperia Z2 to 17.1.A.2.55, 17.1.A.2.69 firmware first. Install ADB drivers of your handset on your PC.

Step 1: Download Xperia Z2 Community RootKit v01 from below link.

Extract the above file after downloading in a folder on your PC.

Step 2: Connect your Xperia Z2 to PC, make sure unknown sources settings are enabled in phone and USB Debugging settings are allowed. Go to security and developer settings to do so.

Step 3: Go to folder extracted in Step 1 and click “runme.bat” file to run the program. ( You will see a device not found error if your device drivers are not installed properly, as shown in below pic ).

Now proceed as per on screen instructions as soon your device is recognized by the program and your Xperia Z2 will be rooted in a minute after installing some files. Make sure you follow the screen instructions cautiously. Check the source below in case you have doubt.

You will get BusyBox and SU installed via this root method automatically. Above mentioned root method is working fine as tested by many users at XDA.

A few days back we saw Sony Live on YouTube app making an appearance at Play Store but soon it was pulled by Sony. Sony Live on YouTube app allows you to broadcast your videos live on YouTube just like we have Social Love app to broadcast videos live on Facebook. Sony Live on YouTube app 01.00.12 version is again seen on Play Store and now users can download it.

For the moment Sony Live on YouTube app is exclusive for Xperia Z2 owners only, not available in Germany due to privacy reasons. You need a verified YouTube account to sign in and then you can broadcast any video. Make sure you don’t upload any video which violates privacy policy and copyrights of someone.

Sony Xperia Z1s launched back in Jan in US on T-Mobile has finally got root after a long time. As all Xperia Z1s users know that bootloader can’t be unlocked on their device but now they can root it as a root exploit has been spotted and successfully deployed. XDA devs jcase and beaups have come up with a way to root Xperia Z1s.

Xperia Z2 Tablet unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.3 build coming

Previous week we saw official CyanogenMod 11 android 4.4.3 build hitting Xperia SP and Xperia Z2, now it seems soon Xperia Z2 Tablet will join the list. Renowned XDA dev Bin4ry has posted a few pics of Xperia Z2 Tablet running unofficial CyanogenMod 11 android 4.4.3 build on Xperia Z2 Tablet exclusively on his Google+ page.

Except two photos of Xperia Z2 Tablet with CyanogenMod 11 screen logo and the about phone details nothing else is posted. No info is there when the Xperia Z2 Tablet unofficial CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.3 build will be released from FreeXperiaTeam ( FXT ), looking at the pics it seems the build is ready and we expect it to hit very soon.

Action Camera Extension 1.00.12 app launched for SWR10 and SW2

Sony has launched a new app named Action Camera Extension 1.00.12 which can be used to control various Sony camera wireless just like we have Sony smart camera app to control shutter of camera in Xperia devices and tablets. Sony is tagging it as their official camera shutter application for Sony SmartBand SWR10 and Sony SmartWatch 2.

You need to just pair the Action Camera Extension 1.00.12 app with your cam and you can control the shutter of your Sony cam within a range of 10 meters. When paired just get in the view of camera sensor and then tap on Sony SmartWatch 2 or Sony SmartBand SWR10 and you can take the pic with those accessories. In some Sony models you can also record a video with Action Camera Extension 1.00.12 app
