Developers have started now making custom Xperia themes from Sony Theme engine which need root to install on your Xperia smartphone.

XDA user alone_in_dark has made a new Xperia Robocop custom theme which can be installed on all rooted Xperia Android 4.3+ running devices. Xperia Robocop custom theme will give you new icons, wallpapers, new On/Off buttons, new check/uncheck icons, red black color transition. Xperia Z2 Album 5.4.A.0.22, Movies 6.1.A.0.16, Walkman 8.1.A.0.6 App port from KitKat

Sony showed a glimpse of new Xperia media apps at MWC 2014 on Xperia Z2 but yet the same media apps are not found in the leaked system dump of Xperia Z2, hope Sony updates them soon for everyone. A few days back we got our hands on new Xperia Z2 KitKat media apps Album 5.4.A.0.22, Movies 6.1.A.0.16 and Walkman 8.1.A.0.6 but they were not working on devices as they were pulled directly from Xperia Z2 but now XDA dev dvha79_ddt has ported these app to other Xperia smartphones.

Xperia Z2 Album 5.4.A.0.22, Movies 6.1.A.0.16, Walkman 8.1.A.0.6 App port from KitKat is working fine on Android 4.3 running, rooted devices with CWM recovery installed. A few days back we also saw Xperia Z2 Movies 6.1.A.0.4, Walkman 8.1.A.0.4 app version port but those apps were from old Xperia Z2 17.1.A.0.289 firmware, confirmed working on Xperia Z1 Android 4.3.

Install Xperia Z Ultra KitKat Charging Animation mod from 4.4.2 14.3.A.0.681 firmware

A few days back we saw Xperia Z Ultra Android 4.4.2 KitKat 14.3.A.0.681 firmware update getting rolled on a user’s Xperia Z Ultra C6833, it is expected as either it is some internal leak or an update over some developer handset. Yesterday system dump of 14.3.A.0.681 firmware was leaked and developers have started porting features from Xperia Z Ultra KitKat update now.

XDA dev DavidMKD has ported Xperia Z Ultra KitKat Charging Animation mod from 4.4.2 and it looks pretty nice. You can install it on your android 4.1.2+ running handset, rooted with CWM recovery installed. Kindly install SuperUser Mod if you can, follow the guide given here.

Download the below zip file and flash it in recovery. Backup your “chargemon” file before replacing it.

Xperia Z Ultra 14.3.A.0.681 firmware System Dump Leaked – 4.4.2 KitKat

Two days back we saw 14.3.A.0.681 firmware getting rolled on an user’s Xperia Z Ultra C6833 which is an upcoming Android 4.4.2 KitKat update planned by Sony. It is believed either it is some internal leak or an update over developer handset as neither Sony nor any user reported it. Android 4.4.2 KitKat being a major update will definitely see a formal announcement from Sony when it is rolled for concerned devices.

Except for some 14.3.A.0.681 firmware screenshots nothing else was spotted, no detailed changelog. Well just now EXR Team has leaked Xperia Z Ultra Android 4.4.2 KitKat 14.3.A.0.681 firmware System Dump, which is available for download now. Kindly note it is a system dump, not Xperia Z Ultra 14.3.A.0.681 firmware ftf so it can not be flashed on any Xperia Z Ultra.

A big concern among users has come up whether Sony will give all new KitKat features which we spotted on Xperia Z2, well it seems 4K Cam app, TimeShift Video app and a few other features like Tap to Wake Up etc. will remain exclusive on Xperia Z2 for the time being.

Xperia E1 Priced at £159 in UK, €199 in Spain, € 119 in Italy – Coming soon at Sony Online Stores for Pre-Order

Sony has scheduled the launch of Xperia E1 Dual and Xperia E1 on 10 March and 25 March respectively at a price of Rs 10490 i.e $172 and Rs 9490 i.e. $155 respectively officially in India while Xperia E1 Dual is already available at Rs 9999 from Infibeam onlie store in India. Just now we spotted Sony listing the Xperia E1 across many regions in Europe under “coming soon” tag at their Sony Online Stores with price.

Xperia E1 is priced at €139 in France, £159 in UK, 2 395 kr in Sweden, €199 in Spain, 599 zł in Poland, €149 in Netherlands, € 119 in Italy, €117 in Germany. Out of the box Sony is giving EP800 Charger, EC450 Media Cable and a wired headset. In some regions only two colors are mentioned and in some regions all three colors are listed. Sony has priced Xperia E1 differently across all regions in Europe where in Spain priced highest.

Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet, E1, T2 Ultra Dual added in Sony Update Service Software

Sony announced Xperia E1 / E1 Dual and Xperia T2 Ultra / T2 Ultra Dual after CES 2014 event in mid Jan 2014 while Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, the new flagship devices launched at MWC 2014 event. Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet is already on pre-order across many regions in Europe and Xperia E1 has also been priced in Europe but not available for pre-order yet while Xperia E1 Dual launched in India. Xperia T2 Ultra / T2 Ultra Dual has already been launched in India many weeks ago.

Seeing that all above mentioned devices are about to be launched in many regions across the world, Sony has added Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet, E1, T2 Ultra Dual in Sony Update Service Software so that they can now be officially updated when they are out in market, it also indicates that launch in on track now.

Xperia E1 Dual and Xperia T2 Ultra is not spotted yet on SUS may be because one can select the compatible dual / single sim model for that.

Xperia Z2 vs Xperia Z1 Camera Comparison – Xperia Z2 shows less noise in pics

Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1 though seems very similar but in terms of specifications and features Sony has tweaked many new features in Xperia Z2. Xperia Z2 supports S801 SoC, Adreno 330 GPU, 3 GB RAM, dual Stereo Speakers, better notification light, larger 5.2″ FHD display with Live Color LED tech and new camera app with features like 4K Video recording and TimeShift video app with slow motion feature.

While Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1 features same 20.7 MP rear cam Sony “G” lens 1/2.3-inch sensor, it seems Sony has worked more on Xperia Z2 camera algorithm this time. Xperia Z1 users from starting are still complaining about too much noise in the pics and it seems Sony is now working on that domain seriously.

Xperia TX LT29i 9.2.A.1.199 firmware update rolling

Xperia T and Xperia V saw 9.2.A.1.199 firmware getting certified for them at end of Feb while nothing was certified for Xperia TX but something surprising came today, a user got 9.2.A.1.199 firmware update notification on his Xperia TX LT29i. We checked via update checker app and found now new update being rolled for his phone customization, it seems Sony has either rolled it for some particular regions or it is still seeding as 9.2.A.1.199 firmware was certified for Xperia T and Xperia V so it may end up rolling later on.

9.2.A.1.199 firmware keeps on Xperia TX on android 4.2.2, seems a minor bug fixing update only. 9.2.A.1.199 firmware update came as OTA notification of 8.3 MB. So try it on your Xperia TX you may also have got the 9.2.A.1.199 firmware update notification or will get it later, keep checking it.

A few days back we posted Xperia Z2 black themed Message KitKat app and now the same XDA dev Rajeev has ported the Xperia Z2 black themed Calendar KitKat app for all those users who don’t like the white background UI of Sony on android 4.3 firmware. All Xperia Z family users are now waiting for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to be rolled officially by Sony, in the mean time we posted some days back that 14.3.A.x.xxx Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware will hit Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact soon and it seems it will come very soon now. A user has got 14.3.A.0.681 firmware update notification on his Xperia Z Ultra C6833 which is android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

Xperia Z2 Tablet hands on photos and preliminary KitKat UI review

Sony launched the new flagship Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet at MWC 2014 which took over the legacy of Xperia Z1 and Xperia Tablet Z. Xperia Z2 Tablet is such a huge improvement over its predecessor in terms of design, specifications and performance. Sony has already listed Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet for pre-order in Europe and it is soon expected to hit other regions of world.

Xperia Z2 Tablet features 10.1″ FHD Triluminos display with live color LED, Snapdragon 801 SoC MSM8974AB 2.3 GHz quad core processor, 3 GB RAM, Adreno 330 GPU, 6.4mm thick, weighs around 426g for Wi-Fi/439g for LTE model which Sony has tagged as ‘world’s slimmest and lightest waterproof tablet’ so far. Xperia Z2 Tablet will features new android 4.4.2 KitKat UI out of the box and has 16 GB internal storage with SD card support upto 64 GB depending upon the 3 different variants of the tablet i.e 16 GB and 32 GB Wi-Fi model and 16 GB LTE model.

FreeXperia brings Xperia M CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 FXP309 build

Sony recently certified 15.4.A.0.21 firmware for Xperia M which is speculated as Android 4.3 update but the chances of getting official Sony Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Xperia M is very less and in the meantime FreeXperia Team has decided to support Xperia M CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 development and first FXP309 build has come up now.

Xperia M CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 FXP309 build is now available for download and Xperia M users can test it if they want to taste the android 4.4.2 KitKat flavor on their device. You need to unlock the bootloader to install CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4.2 FXP309 build on Xperia M. Unlocking bootloader voids the warranty.

XDA Dev PecanCM started a lot ago on bringing CyanogenMod to Xperia M and now here it comes.
