Sony Mobile has just tweeted saying that roll out of 14.2.A.1.136 firmware has started officially globally now. 14.2.A.1.136 firmware keeps Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra on android 4.3, confirmed in regions like Finland, Generic Nordic Countries like Norway, Vietnam, Hong Kong, UK, Canada ( for Xperia Z1 ) and India, Thailand, UK ( for Xperia Z Ultra ) and currently available over PC Companion and SUS and Bridge for Mac

[ UPDATE ] 14.2.A.1.136 firmware update confirmed in India on Xperia Z1 C6902 and Xperia Z Ultra C6802. It’s a hefty 944.6 MB update in size for Xperia Z1. 14.2.A.1.136 firmware OTA available now on Xperia Z1.

To update your Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra, connect it to PC Companion and look for 14.2.A.1.136 firmware notification and then proceed as per on screen instructions.

  • Touch Screen Response seems ok, same as before.
  • Wi-Fi reception is same as before, no major improvement.
  • Improvement in RAM management.
  • No App to SD card option.
  • No new camera apps
  • Touch firmware version updated to “D” from “B”.
  • Movies and Album app updated to new version.
  • Better battery backup now on Xperia Z1. Tested for almost 24 hours and satisfied as compared to pathetic battery backup on previous .290 firmware.
  • Time Shift Burst app working properly on Xperia Z Ultra now.

Sony has already started working on Android 4.4.2 KitKat 14.3.A.X.XXX firmware for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Z1 Compact and hope so soon after the launch of Sony D6503 and Sony D6603 at MWC 2014 Feb event, we will get it.

Android 4.3 14.2.A.1.136 firmware which we claimed will be coming to Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra, was seen yesterday rolling out in Baltic regions from EMMA update service only, though no user claimed 14.2.A.1.136 firmware rolling out from PC Companion or SUS for Xperia Z1. Just now we spotted that very same android 4.3 14.2.A.1.136 firmware build is certified on PTCRB.

14.2.A.1.136 firmware is certified for all variants for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra and for Xperia Z1 Compact D5503. 14.2.A.1.136 firmware is a major bug fixing update over previous 14.2.A.0.290 firmware on Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra and 14.2.A.1.114 firmware on Xperia Z1 Compact D5503.

Android 4.3 14.2.A.1.136 firmware which was about to roll on Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact as it was in testing as per our report when 14.2.A.1.124 firmware was certified on PTCRB, it seems 14.2.A.1.136 firmware update is now seen on EMMA update servers in Baltic regions only for the time being. 14.2.A.1.136 firmware news came first from the legendary flastool developer “Androxyde“.

It is clear that 14.2.A.1.136 firmware update has not been rolled via PC Companion or SUS in any regions till now and is only available via EMMA Update Servers for Baltic region only and that for Xperia Z1 C6903, nothing seen for Xperia Z1 C6902 till now.
