17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware rolled on Xperia Z2 a few days back ( android 4.4.2 ) and now the same build has hit Xperia Z2 Tablet LTE version. 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware brings performance enhancement, bug fixes, improved voice quality and faster battery charging time.

17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware update is only available for Xperia Z2 Tablet LTE SGP521 while nothing is spotted for Wi-Fi variants SGP511, SGP512 yet. Both Xperia Z2 Tablet and phone is on android 4.4.2 for the time being.

17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware is available over PC Companion only, confirmed in Brazil, UK and other parts of Europe. Remember you can’t use SUS now for updating your device.

Sony recently updated Xperia Z2 on 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware unexpectedly which brought changes like improved call voice quality, faster battery charging. Earlier root method was not available for 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware but now you can root your Xperia Z2 on 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware via rootkitXperia developed by @cubeundcube.

XDA user RyokoN mentions that above mentioned root tool kit uses two exploits i.e. ‘master key exploit‘ (bug 9950697) and CVE-2013-6282 on an older version but now it uses CVE-2014-3153 (towelroot exploit).

Confirmed devices working on this kit are Xperia Z2 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware, Xperia Z1 14.3.B.0.288, Xperia SP 12.1.A.1.205 etc.

How to Root ?

  • Set up adb ( path ). How to do steps here.
  • Go to settings on your phone and enable unknown sources and USB Debugging option.
  • Download the above zip, extract it.
  • Click on Install.bat.
  • Follow the on screen instructions.
  • Your device will reboot and CMD will show “完了しました” or “— all finished —“, consider rooting done then.

Sony is rolling a minor update in form of 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware on Xperia Z2 D6503 LTE. 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware keeps Xperia Z2 on Android 4.4.2 only ( Android 4.4.4 update is still missing ), confirmed rolling via PC Companion in regions like Russia, Iran, Korea.

No major changes spotted in this 17.1.2.A.0.314 firmware update, it seems a security patch fixing update as Towel Root exploit fails to root this firmware for the time being. Connect your device to PC Companion and look for an update notification to update.
