T-Mobile Xperia Z1s C6916 14.5.B.0.228 Lollipop firmware certified

A new Android 5.0.2 Lollipop 14.5.B.0.228 firmware has been certified for T-Mobile Xperia Z1s C6916 handset at PTCRB over older 14.5.B.0.220 firmware which was certified in April starting. A few days back Sony rolled Android 5.0.2 14.5.A.0.242 firmware update on global variant of Xperia Z1.

14.5.B.0.228 firmware will move Xperia Z1s to Android 5.0.2 from Android 4.4.4 KitKat 14.4.B.0.56 firmware. No ETA is there when the update will be rolled on the carrier handset in USA.

Sony earlier pulled Android Lollipop update from some regions within a day of rolling it on Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 (because of some bugs) and then released another bug fixing update; 14.5.B.0.228 firmware seems to do the same thing over 14.5.B.0.220 firmware (which was never released).

Sony has already rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on Xperia “Z3” and Xperia “Z2” series in the form of 23.1.A.0.690 firmware and is now available worldwide.

Sony will also give Lollipop update to Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3, 19.3.A.0.468 firmware has been certified for both handsets already.

Once 14.5.B.0.228 Lollipop firmware begins to roll, we will let you know.

Xperia Z4 Dual Android 5.0.2 Lollipop running screenshots leaked

Up in the silent making noise first look of hopefully Sony’s new Android 5.0 Lollipop UI has been allegedly leaked in the screenshots supposedly from Xperia Z4 Dual. All the screenshots are taken from Dual SIM variant of Xperia Z4.

About phone screenshot of Xperia Z4 Dual shows it is running on Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 SoC, Android 5.0.2 Lollipop version,  3.10 Kernel version and firmware build starting from 28.X.

Wireless & Networks settings shows Dual SIM settings and almost similar icons as present in KitKat firmware but with a whiter UI as expected. Navigation keys present in the screenshot we have seen earlier also many times.

We are now seeing a colored status bar of same color may be just as of theme applied.

If you notice clearly Sony is using network and Wi-Fi icon similar to stock Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM which we earlier reported when the same icons were spotted in Sony’s Facebook, Twitter app for SmartEyeglass screenshots which gave us an initial preview of Sony’s new material design UI, check out the screenshots below.

It may happen now Sony giving directly Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to Xperia “Z” series skipping Android 5.0 ( as the screenshots are from Android 5.0.2 showing it has already been baked ).

Android 5.0 23.1.X.X.XXX firmware build to come on Xperia Z3

Sony promised to roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop update on whole Xperia “Z” series handsets from early Jan 2015. Not much details are known yet of Sony’s Android 5.0 firmware whereas the very first 23.1.X.X.XXX firmware build which is expected to come on Xperia “Z3” series handsets as Android 5.0 Lollipop update is spotted at Handset Detection.

XDA user gbil posted today that Sony/D6603/D6603:5.0/23.1.X.X.XXX firmware is in testing now which is Android 5.0 Lollipop ( in past same user has posted classified info regarding future firmware updates, so it seems credible ).

Xperia Z3 series Android 5.0 23.1.X.X.XXX firmware build

23.1.A.0.75 firmware is spotted ( at HD ) running on Xperia Z3 D6603 as Android 5.0 Lollipop version.

23.1.A.0.131 firmware is spotted ( at HD ) running on Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet SGP621 as Android 5.0 Lollipop version.

Sony Z Ultra GPe got its Android 5.0 Lollipop update a few days back and recently Sony posted a video of Xperia Z3, Z2, Z1 running AOSP Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM officially.

Exact time frame of roll out of Android 5.0 Lollipop update is not known yet but is surely in testing now as seen from above firmware builds.

It will be great to see if Sony rolls Android 5.0 Lollipop update on any other device except “Z” series handsets like Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia M2, Xperia C3, Xperia T3 etc.

Xperia Z2, Z1, Z, L gets Android 5.0 Lollipop AOSP ROM support

Sony will be rolling android 5.0 Lollipop update on whole Xperia “Z” series in early Jan 2015 but if you want to taste android 5.0 Lollipop now you can do that on a few Xperia devices. Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z and Xperia L gets android 5.0 Lollipop ROM support now at XDA, initial unstable builds have already been released for them.

At present all the builds are in early stage and many important features are not working. Do not flash them if you are looking for a daily usage ROM. You need to unlock the bootloader of your device to flash ROMs.

Xperia Z2 Android 5.0 Lollipop AOSP ROM

ROM is still in WIP ( work in progress stage ), screen/touch, Wi-Fi, vibrator working. Visit the original XDA thread ( dev – m0rph3us )  for detailed info.

Xperia Z1 Android 5.0 Lollipop AOSP ROM

Along with Google’s Android new mobile OS launch i.e. Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google has updated all its native apps in the system. Google’s Keyboard has been updated to newer version 4.0.21003.1519572 which brings material light and material dark themes in the keyboard.

You can now install Google Android 5.0 Lollipop Keyboard 4.0 version on non rooted Android 4.0+ running devices. It is confirmed working on all non rooted Xperia devices running android 4.3+. It has inbuilt Emoji (available on android 4.4.4 ).

A few days back we posted Xperia Android 5.0 L Material Design Themes suit which included 8 Color Themes and now two more themes in black and grey color from the same XDA RC niaboc79 have been posted. You will find the themes adapted from Google’s Android 5.0 Lollipop system UI.

To install themes posted in this post you need rooted Xperia handset with SuperUser Mod installed. Download theme apk from below below and install normally, reboot OR try pushing the apk in system/app folder > set permissions rw- r– r– and reboot.

Sony OFFICIALLY updating Android 5.0 Lollipop on entire Xperia “Z” series from early 2015

Yesterday Google unveiled Android 5.0 Lollipop as the newer version of its mobile OS and we were speculating which Xperia devices will get Android 5.0 Lollipop and now Sony has officially come up with a statement which we were expecting.

Sony will officially update whole Xperia “Z” series on Android 5.0 Lollipop as mentioned by Sony on their blog today. Android 5.0 Lollipop update roll out will start from latest flagship devices Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 from early 2015.

Sony Z Ultra will be the first device to get Android 5.0 Lollipop update very soon.

Which Xperia phones getting Android 5.0 Lollipop update ?

Google has officially unveiled the next edition of Android OS i.e. Android 5.0 Lollipop along with Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player. Images of Android 5.0 Lollipop will be released by Google on 17 October and then we can expect manufacturers to build Android 5.0 Lollipop update for their device. Motorola and HTC have already come up with their plans of rollout for next android update, so what’s next for Sony Xperia devices ?

Android 5.0 Lollipop update brings material design UI to the devices, improved notification system, long lasting battery improvements, more regulated security update, newer quick settings layout, more powerful connectivity options with low energy Bluetooth Capabilities, ART runtime and many other new features, check out the full list here.

Android 5.0 Lollipop factory images will be available from day after tomorrow so the real pain for various companies will start for building new update. Sony recently launched Xperia Z3 lineup with KitKat update and now whole Xperia “Z” series is on Android 4.4.4 KitKat ( except Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet for which it has been certified already ).

It seems the right time now for Sony to unveil its plan for Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Xperia devices. So which Xperia devices will get Android 5.0 Lollipop update ? Let’s see.

Note : We are just speculating the devices list, don’t take it as official wording.

Android 5.0 Lollipop update getting Xperia Devices : Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet will definitely get it. Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet are also in list. Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra follows the list.

Most probably Sony will also update Xperia T2 Ultra / Dual and Xperia T3 to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

We are not sure whether Xperia M2, E3, C3, E1 will get or not. ( They should get an update. Sony will release an update or not, Sony will tell it in future once they are done updating Xperia “Z” series ).

Sony has already ended support for Xperia S, SL, T, V, TX, SP, C, L, M, E, so there is no chance for any further android update.
