Sony SmartWatch 3 Android Wear 5.1.1 update rolling – Brings Wi-Fi support & Wrist Gestures

Android 5.1.1 Wear update is now finally rolling on Sony SmartWatch 3. Google first seeded Android Wear 5.1.1 update on LG watch Urbane and it has already been confirmed on LG Watch R and Asus ZenWatch. Update is confirmed rolling Russia, USA, UK.

SmartWatch 3 Android Wear 5.1.1 update is rolling in the form of build 1.1.1.1929530, Google Play Service 7.3.36. Sony SmartWatch 3 has Wi-Fi connectivity option, so now connecting SW3 to a Wi-Fi network will enable you to send messages, use apps; no matter where your phone is (it must have data connection), so no need for a permanent Bluetooth connection for pairing it.

Xperia Z3 running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Video Leaked

At present Sony Mobile might be busy with preparing Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR & Xperia Tablet Z and, on the other hand a video has been leaked showing Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update running on Xperia Z3 (D6603) exclusively.

It is believed that Xperia Z3 will feature 23.4.A.0.xxx build number (current being 23.4.A.0.248 firmware). Android 5.1.1 Lollipop 23.4.A.0.248 firmware build was also spotted running on Xperia Z2 D6503 on HandsetDetection.

New Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update will bring new animations and a shortcut allowing you to search the available Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections from the quick settings menu itself.

A few days back Telstra AU software page confirmed that Android 5.1 Lollipop update is in testing for Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact, might start to roll from June this year.

Google has officially announced a major update to Android Wear which includes lots of new features. It is in news that Google will soon roll out Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update on Nexus devices and then we can expect the Android Wear 5.1.1 update to come to Sony SmartWatch 3.

Sony has already launched Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Update on Xperia Z2 & Xperia Z3 series, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra. Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia C3 and older Xperia “Z” series are yet to receive Lollipop update.
