Sony’s Socialife News app 4.0.26 version rolled today which fixed the app crashing bug on Xperia SP and other Xperia smartphones and now it is available for download on all Android devices running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean or later version as per changelog of Socialife News app 4.0.22.4 version. All Sony android tablets are compatible with this Socialife News app.

Socialife News app has been downloaded more than 10 Million times, is a social media app from Sony which allows you to track the latest updates from more than 2000 feeds from 250 news organisation. It comes with its own associated widgets that can be put on homescreen for quick view and navigation.

Install Xperia Z2 Movies 6.1.A.0.4, Walkman 8.1.A.0.4 app on Rooted Devices

Process of porting apps from Xperia Z2 has already begun and it started with Xperia Z2 Smart call handling feature getting ported for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact. A moment ago we saw Xperia Z2 Camera apps Addons port – Creative Effects, AR Effect 2.0.4 , Background Defocus 1.1.7 on various rooted Xperia smartphones. TimeShift Video and 4K Camera app port is not yet available for the time being.

We shared a lot before Xperia Z2 Movies 6.1.A.0.4 and Walkman 8.1.A.0.4 app but it didn’t work on any devices and now XDA dev niaboc79 has made possible installation of Xperia Z2 Movies 6.1.A.0.4 and Walkman 8.1.A.0.4 app on any rooted Xperia Smartphone.

You need android 4.3 jelly bean to install them. It may work on lower version but not tested yet and may have an issue with resolution. It should worked perfect on Xperia Z1, Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra, SP, L, M, C.

Xperia Album App 5.4.A.0.20 update rolling – Android KitKat Support

Sony has just rolled Album App 5.4.A.0.20 update following the previous Album App 5.4.A.0.12 version rolled in early Feb. Album App 5.4.A.0.20 update spotted as OTA update on Xperia Z family members and Xperia L, Xperia SP also following the same changelog as like its previous version.

Album App 5.4.A.0.20 update says Android 4.4 KitKat support again in changelog, which may indicate that Sony is updating its media apps before they roll out the official android 4.4 KitKat firmware update on their handsets. If you look closely in the screenshots you will see white icons in the status bar which is a native KitKat feature.

Info Eye version 1.3.04 update rolling for Xperia Z1 Camera App

A moment ago Sony updated Album App to version 5.4.A.0.12 which showed in changelog that it supports Android 4.4 KitKat and just now many users in India on their Xperia Z1 are getting Info Eye version 1.3.04 update notification. Info Eye version 1.3.04 notification till now seen Xperia Z1 C6902 India, C6903 Poland also.

Hope it also comes to Sony Smart Camera app present in Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, and Z Ultra. Previous Info eye app version was 1.2.04. Info Eye version 1.3.04 is a 21.9 MB update in size.

Info Eye version 1.3.04 is rolling via OTA, check in your update center app for notification.

Timeshift Video app interface from Sony D6503 Sirius Leaked

We all know Sony D6503 Sirius now, a few days ago we saw leaked pics of Sony D6503 and then full android 4.4.2 KitKat Xperia UI of Sony D6503 was leaked by same source iRimas. Some new features like 4K Video recording and Timeshift video app were seen which are quite amazing.

Timeshift Video app in new Sony D6503 Sirius will allow users to record videos in higher fps now and then they can apply slow motion effects to it. We are expecting a new and improved camera app also from Sony in new Xperia KitKat UI.

You can see an arc which we guess will be used to adjust the slow motion effects on the video made. You can select the portion where slow motion changes are to be applied and that portion can be seen in highlighted blue color.

We are soon expecting the new Sony D6503 and Sony D6603 announcement officially at the MWC 2014 event, both devices are not expected to be the flagship devices.

We checked in a comment made by “iRimas” that DooMLoRD is working on getting some features of Sony D6503 to Xperia Z1, well hope everything goes well and we can enjoy the new 4K video recording and Timeshift Video app on Xperia Z1 before they are officially rolled on Xperia Z1 ( it is expected that some features seen in KitKat UI of Sony D6503 will be kept exclusive to it only for the time being. ).

How to Install White Balance App on Xperia Z1 to remove Yellow Hue

Android 4.3 14.2.A.0.290 firmware update has landed on Xperia Z1 finally yesterday which fixed the camera breaking bootloader issue and brought new Xperia themes and smooth UI. Besides that yellow hue issue is still present on Xperia Z1 for many users and they are complaining again that Sony still not calibrated the display for better whites. Is it a hardware issue or software issue, debate still continues while one stock Sony app “White Balance” can get rid of it which was seen in Xperia Z first. It is strange that Sony has neglected keeping this app on Xperia Z1, don’t know why. Well till now no one came up with any port of installing white balance app on Xperia Z1 but now it has come finally 🙂

XDA dev “RyokoN” has ported white balance app from NTT DoCoMo Xperia Z1 (SO-01F) on Xperia Z1.

How to Install White Balance app on Xperia Z1 ?

You need Rooted and Recovery installed on Xperia Z1. ( It don’t work on non-rooted phones )

Flash above zip file in recovery.

It’s done now 🙂 Now adjust the white balance settings according to your level of yellow hue on Xperia Z1 screen.

A good news came, Sony Xperia support staff member Rickard says that “White Balance settings in Xperia Z1 is planned for an update due in January 2014“. When we asked him which update he is referring to Android 4.3 or Android 4.4 ? He refused to answer on this issue.

In recent leaked Android 4.3 10.4.B.0.569 firmware for Xperia Z and ZL we saw new Movies app 5.3.A.0.18 version and here it comes officially on android 4.2.2 Xperia Z devices and Xperia L. Sony rolled out Movies app 5.3.A.0.18 and Video Unlimited app 8.0.B.0.8 version update on Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR and Xperia L. Like this we hope new Album app 5.2.A.1.26 version may be rolled out soon.

Movies app 5.3.A.0.18 update brings major changes for Sony’s Movies app. Both updates available only via update center app as an OTA, look for a notification as shown below for updating movies app and video unlimited app. Sony’s Video Unlimited app is available over some regions only so you might not see the notification for it.

We just spotted it on our Xperia Z1 C6902. Walkman app version 8.0.A.0.4 update is confirmed rolling on Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z and ZL so far. It’s only a minor bug fixing update as the build number has just increased by a decimal point. Check for a notification in update center as shown below.

All Xperia Z1 users should be getting the notification from Google Play store to update Xperia Z1 Camera App AR Effect.

No specific info regarding what has been updated in new Xperia Z1 Camera App AR Effect version 1.1.10 is given on Play Store description though some visual changes were noticeable.

Changes noticed

In previous version 1.0.23, all AR Effects icons were vertically listed and now they are horizontally listed in the app.
No improvement in the color quality, images are still captured dark ( tried in various lightning conditions ).

A new Walkman app version 8.0.A.0.3 OTA update is now rolling on Xperia Z devices. It’s the latest build over previous Walkman app version 7.15.A.0.0 which as brought many new features this time. Walkman app version 8.0.A.0.3 OTA Update is already confirmed on Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Xperia Z, it should soon hit other devices also ( Xperia ZR, ZL, SP etc hopefully ). It has bring the new playlist features besides bug fixes.

Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL album app version 5.2.A.1.20 OTA Update

While all Xperia users are waiting for android 4.3 update on their devices which is due in December as per Sony’s statement on their blog recently, Sony has rolled out recently some updates to their stock media apps. Recently we saw Sony rolling out Xperia Keyboard 5.6.D.1.28 version OTA update on Xperia S, SL and P. Just now we received album app version 5.2.A.1.20 update on our Xperia Z1 C6902.

Album app version 5.2.A.1.20 update is available as an OTA update only, and confirmed by users of Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z and ZL. Album app version 5.2.A.1.20 is an update over previous album 5.2.A.0.6.

Check in update center and look for album app version 5.2.A.1.20 notification as shown below.

Xperia keyboard version 5.6.D.1.28 OTA update for Xperia S, SL, P

It’s great to see that Sony has not forgotten Xperia S, SL and P, as users have reported an OTA update coming for Xperia keyboard version 5.6.D.1.28. Xperia S, SL and P at present are on android 4.1.2 jelly bean and with the introduction of android 4.4 KitKat Project Svelte; Xperia S, SL, Acro S and P users can expect to get android 4.3 and android 4.4 KitKat updates though chances are very less.

Xperia keyboard version 5.6.D.1.28 update is available in update center app on your Xperia S, SL and P. Update brings no visual changes rather some “software performance improvement” to rectify the lag in the keyboard app.

Look for the notification as shown below in update center app and update your Xperia Keyboard app.

Tap on download button icon to start downloading the app.

For all Xperia S, SL and P users who have not got Xperia keyboard version 5.6.D.1.28 update yet can download the below apk and install it like a normal apk, no root is needed.

Install Latest Xperia Home 6.1.A.0.5 version on Xperia Z1, Z

Xperia L was recently updated to android 4.2.2 15.3.A.0.26 firmware which brought a lot many features which Xperia Z family android phones got in their update. It’s overall a major update for Xperia L users and has enhanced the performance of the device. Noticing carefully it was found that some stock apps have also been updated which are not yet updated on Xperia Z1 and other android 4.2.2 running Xperia smartphones. Recently we saw Sony rolling out Album app version 5.2.A.0.6, Tasks App version 1.0.A.0.1, Walkman app version 7.15.A.0.0 and Info-eye version 1.1.02 on Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra ( Album app on all Xperia Z family ).

Xperia Home launcher has been updated to version 6.1.A.0.5 in Xperia L android 4.2.2 15.3.A.0.26 firmware though the present Xperia Home launcher on Xperia Z1 reads as version 6.0.2.A.0.13.

A new Walkman app version 7.15.A.0.0 has been rolled as OTA update on Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra just now. Recently we saw Sony rolling out Album app version 5.2.A.0.6, Tasks App version 1.0.A.0.1 and Info-eye version 1.1.02 on Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra ( Album app on all Xperia Z family ).

Walkman app version 7.15.A.0.0 replaces the older Walkman app version 7.12.A.0.0 and brings out bug fixes and performance enhancement as per changelog associated with this update.

Xperia Z1, Z, ZL, ZR, Z Ultra Album app version 5.2.A.0.6 OTA Update

Yesterday we saw 14.1.G.2.257 firmware rolling on Xperia Z1, a major update which fixed a lot many issues on Xperia Z1 like camera noisy images issue, Wi-Fi range, automatic reboot issue, screen calibration etc. 14.1.B.2.257 firmware is also expected on Xperia Z Ultra soon in a day. Just now we spotted notification for Album app version 5.2.A.0.6 as OTA update rolling on both Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra.

Album app version 5.2.A.0.6 OTA update is confirmed on both Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra, all versions. Check in update center app if you have got any notification just like shown below. If you have got it proceed download.

It is an update over previous Album 5.1.A.0.4 app on both phones.

No major changes noticed on Album app version 5.2.A.0.6, a bit more smooth and fast from previous version. X-Reality transition appears more smooth, better colors now 🙂

Sony has officially rolled out a task, to-do list, reminder app of its own and Xperia Z1 users are getting this Tasks App version 1.0.A.0.1 as OTA update on their phone. Just now we got this Tasks App version 1.0.A.0.1 update notification on our Xperia Z1 C6902 in India via update center app on Xperia Z1.

Tasks App version 1.0.A.0.1 is an app similar to other to-do list apps found in Google Play store but this one comes directly from Sony this time. Tasks App version 1.0.A.0.1 till now seen rolling on Xperia Z1 only.
