Google has finally unveiled Android M developer preview yesterday at Google I/O 2015 and some news features like dark system theme UI, pick and choose app permissions, Android Pay, fingerprint support, Now on Tap etc. have been spotted.

Recently we spotted that Android M also supports multi-window mode so that one can keep different activities on the same screen at the same time. Now as Android M preview images are out, Android M apps have been ported for Lollipop running devices.

Android M Launcher

You need Android Lollipop running device to install Android M launcher, we tested it on Xperia Z2, Z3, working on non-rooted devices also.

To install Android M Launcher on your device, you need two files posted below. After installing below-posted two files, set Google Now Launcher as your default launcher. App drawer is now arranged alphabetically.

Download Android M Velvet.apk (Google App 5.0.16.19.arm version)

Download Google Now Launcher apk (1.1.1.1706998 version)

New Android M launcher is smooth and responsive as compared to Android Lollipop launcher with better search option inside it.

Sony Xperia Home 8.0.A.1.1 app updated

Sony Xperia Home app has been updated to newer 8.0.A.1.1 version over older 8.0.A.1.0 version. Recently it was spotted on Xperia Z Lollipop update that Sony introduced a new 8.0.A.1.2 Xperia Home version which supports auto rotation on homescreen.

Xperia Home 8.0.A.1.1 app update is only a performance enhancement update over the older version, auto-rotation feature is not included for the time being.

Sony Video app has been updated to newer 9.2.A.0.6 version over the older 9.1.A.0.8 version. Sony Video 9.2.A.0.6 app update brings some cool features like swipe down to shrink the video player with playback ongoing; swipe up to maximize it again and swipe left to dismiss the video.

If you by any chance interrupt the video playback by pressing home key, just tap the Video app icon on home screen or app screen to activate the player directly and resume your video.

New list of supported Xperia devices by this app is Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, ZL2, Z2 Tablet, Z2, Z1 Compact, Z1, Z, Tablet Z, Z Ultra, ZL, ZQ, ZR. Now you can broadcast your videos in HD and full HD and broadcast duration has been increased to 60 minutes.

Sony launched Style Cover SCR24 for Xperia Z3 a while ago. SCR24 Style Cover is enabled with Smart Window functions which allow you to download certain apps and widgets which can be accessed from the lock screen of the device through smart window of the case.

Today Sony has finally made its Style Cover app available for Xperia Z3 users from update center, as an OTA update. Sony has also launched Style Cover Window Xperia themes/wallpapers on Play Store. This app integrates with Style Cover SCR24.

Sony What’s New app has been updated to newer 3.0.A.0.2 version. What’s New 3.0.A.0.2 app has been updated. New update brings nothing new, except bugs fixing and performance enhancement. You can get access to various apps, games, themes etc recommended by Sony from this app. Sony Photo Editor app got updated to 5.0.A.0.12 version today.

In the Lollipop update, Sony moved “Update Center” app to What’s New app so now all update notifications comes via it. Go to the menu section of Whats New app and you will find “Updates” option there.

Sony TrackID app has been updated to a newer 4.1.B.3.6 version from the older 4.1.B.3.4 version, following the same changelog i.e. material design UI, faster recognition speed and support for Android Wear and Sony SmartBand Talk SWR30.

Android 4.2+ is needed to install the app. App helps to identify the music track playing around you just like Shazam app, obviously you need your device connected to internet.

Sony Account Manager app 2.3.6 updated – Bug Fixing

Sony Account Manager app has been updated to newer 2.3.6 version over older 2.3.5 version. Sony Account Manager app 2.3.6 is compatible with Android Lollipop now (follows the changelog from the older update) and brings usual bug fixing and performance enhancement.

Sony Account Manager app is integrated with all Sony media apps and is used to sign into Sony Entertainment Network account on your device. To sign in, connect your account via an app like Album app and then go to Settings > Sync menu and then select your account.
