A new Sony AR Effect “Dragons” theme is available on Play Store from a third party developer for Sony Social Smart Camera App. It is a free theme which has 1 dragon, 1 building and the crown “face” object and can be upgraded to the paid version if you like.

AR Effect app allows you to customize your captured pics and videos with installed themed characters. You need either v3.1.XX or higher version of AR Effect app(3.3.13) to install this theme and it works with only Android 4.3+ running Xperia devices with Sony Social Smart Camera app.

Sony Album 7.1.A.0.16 app available for Beta Testing

Sony recently put its Album app on Play Store (7.0.A.0.26 version moving it from older 7.0.A.0.24 version) and today Sony Walkman app is put on Play Store in the form of Xperia Music 5.0.A.0.10 app. Sony has released beta testing version of the Album app (most recent was 7.1.A.0.12 version) but today another update came.

Sony Album 7.1.A.0.16 app is now available for download to all beta testing user from Play Store itself. Sony Album 7.1 version brings support for 4K output over MHL. Now you can see your PlayMemories online quota (storage consumption) and ability to choose which menu items appearing in the navigation pane.

Sony puts Xperia Music 5.0.A.0.10 App on Play Store replacing Walkman

Sony has now branded its Walkman app to Xperia Music and it has been officially put on Play Store. Earlier Sony put Album app on Play Store which clearly means that sooner or later we will see Sony Movies app on Play store also.

On Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update Sony rebranded Walkman app to Xperia Music and now it is available for download to all Xperia users running Android 4.0+ from Play Store itself, which means no more updates via Update Center app.

Sony Album 7.1.A.0.12 app available to Beta testing users

Sony Mobile pushed its Album app to Play Store yesterday, bringing an update in the form of 7.0.A.0.26 version older 7.0.A.0.24 version. As per the official statement by Sony staff, compatibility issues with Xperia handsets for 7.0.A.0.26 version over downloading from Play Store has been resolved now.

A new Sony Album 7.1.A.0.12 app version is now available for testing to all beta testing users. If you are one of the users download it from Play Store. If you are not the best testing user, don’t worry it is now available for download

Sony has put its Album app on Play Store today, moving it new 7.0.A.0.26 version from older 7.0.A.0.24 version. Album 7.0.A.0.26 app is now available for Beta testing from Sony Album Beta user community. Though Sony Album 7.0.A.0.26 app is compatible with Android 4.2+ but many Xperia users running Android 4.4.4 are not able to download it from Play Store.

Album 7.0.A.0.26 app brings some minor bug fixing and performance enhancement with the update. Sony Album app is already on material design UI.

Install Xperia Lollipop Keyboard 6.6.B.0.11 from Xperia Z3 Android 5.0.2 update with emojis

Earlier today Sony rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact in form of 23.1.A.0.690 firmware which brought new features like material design UI with new Xperia Themes and wallpapers, multi-user support, apps to sd card feature etc.

Sony’s stock and media apps have been updated to the new version and Xperia Keyboard 6.6.B.0.11 version is now available for installation on rooted handsets running Android Lollipop ROMs like CM12/AOSP 5.x.x/STOCK ROM and on Xperia handsets with Android 4.x (working with 4.4.4, compatibility with others unknown)

New Xperia Keyboard 6.6.B.0.11 is fast and has 3 colors theme as usual.

Instructions: Download the flashable zip. Flash in recovery. Do backup your original keyboard before flashing.

New Xperia Home version 7.0.A.1.12 is now available for installation on rooted Xperia handsets running Android 4.4+ with SuperUser Mod installed (present Xperia Home version is 7.0.A.1.5 or 7.0.A.1.7 ). Xperia Home 7.0.A.1.12 is taken from the latest Sony Xperia firmware update.

Sony Walkman 8.5.A.3.2 update rolling – View songs on your Android Wear device

Sony Walkman app has got a new update in form of 8.5.A.3.2 version over old 8.5.A.2.10 version. In new Walkman 8.5.A.3.2 update, you can now on your Android Wear device view songs in synchronized playlist and start playback from any song in the playlist, as the changelog reads.

Walkman 8.5.A.3.2 update also brings usual bug fixing and performance enhancement. App still reads “Walkman” though we saw on Android 5.0.2 it reads as “music”.

Xperia Link app updated with Android 5.0 Support and material design icon

Sony Xperia Link app has been updated to newer 2.8.A.1.2 version and now it supports Android 5.0 Lollipop. Update also brings material design and redesigned Xperia Link widget for home screen. To use the app, your device must be running Android 4.0+ and to use it with VAIO PCs (with Windows 8 or higher), version must be below Android 4.4.

Xperia Link app lets you connect to the internet from your tablet/PC using the network connection of your phone. It also allows users to view the phone’s text messages and receive call notifications on your tablet (except on Xperia Tablet S).

Sony Album 7.0.A.0.24 app update brings Material Design UI

Sony has updated its Album app to all new 7.0.A.0.24 version which brings Material Design UI to the app exclusively. Earlier Sony has updated its Walkman app to material design while Movies app got only material design icon.

Album 7.0.A.0.24 app update brings an option to move photos to desired folders (icons on folder will indicate where they are stored now) on internal memory or SD card and improved sync settings and usual bug fixing and performance enhancement.

Album 7.0.A.0.24 app update is rolling via Update Center app, though only a few Xperia M2 Aqua users got the update. We haven’t got the update on our Xperia Z2 yet.

You need Android 4.2+ running on your handset to install the app. It needs internet connection to identify the audio track playing. You can sign into app using your Facebook account to keep track of your activities.

Sony has just pushed its Movie Creator app to Play Store which now onwards you will not get any update via Update Center app. Movie Creator 2.4.A.0.4 update brings major changes like now you can select your video size (Full HD/SD/HD), you can change the video filters as more Sony designed video filters are available for auto-generated highlight movies.

Xperia Theme Creator BETA tool released by Sony – Create your own Xperia Themes easily now

Sony has officially released Xperia Theme Creator BETA tool which will help developers to create Xperia Themes for Sony smartphones from the pre-defined templates. This tool will allow you to customize more than 300 graphical assets like icons, buttons etc.

You can design anything from wallpaper, icons, buttons, colors and when you are done with your Xperia theme, just export it and apk can be installed on any Xperia device running KitKat or above. It has templates for Adobe Photoshop which can be used to create graphics for the theme.

Sony has started a new “Gold” level for Xperia Lounge app users where it is asking users to upgrade to Xperia Lounge Gold level and is giving premium Xperia Disney themes to users. For the time being Sony is giving free Xperia Frozen Olaf Theme, Xperia Frozen Elsa Theme and Xperia Mickey New York theme.

To avail the free theme voucher code, upgrade to Gold level > tap on the concerned theme notification > click on next > accept terms and conditions > Redirected to Play Store > click on price > click on accept > click on continue > click redeem > enter voucher code and click install.
