Sony gave a special Phone Number Assistant feature in Xperia Z3 variant in China which can be used to block calls and messages on your device so that you don’t need any third party app to do so. This app is now available for installing but you need rooted Xperia device to install this app.

Number Assistant feature is successfully tested on global variants of Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact running stock ROM & existenz ROM. Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra users are facing issues in using the app after installation.

Xperia E4g launched with 4G LTE, NFC connectivity & 1.5 GHz Quad-core processor

Surprisingly Sony has launched a 4G LTE variant of Xperia E4 in form of Xperia E4g and Xperia E4g Dual SIM with 4G LTE network enabled, NFC connectivity option and 1.5 GHz Quad-core MediaTek MT6732 processor (Xperia E4 has 1.3 GHz quad core processor). It features 4.7″ qHD IPS display 540 x 960 resolution.

Sony mentioned Xperia E4g price to be €129/$145 and will be available in April this year officially. It features 5 MP rear camera, 2 MP front cam, 8 GB internal storage ( No microSD card slot ) with 1 GB RAM and a 2300 mAh battery ( embedded ).

Install CynogenMod 12 bootanimation on Xperia devices

Looking for a custom bootanimation for your Xperia device, well if yes, you might want to try this CynogenMod 12 bootanimation on your Xperia devices ( for mdpi and hdpi screens only ).

You need rooted Xperia handset or with custom recovery installed running Android 4.2+ to install this bootanimation. Do not forget to backup your original stock bootanimation before installing this, in case you want to go back later on.

Xperia Z4 Dual Android 5.0.2 Lollipop running screenshots leaked

Up in the silent making noise first look of hopefully Sony’s new Android 5.0 Lollipop UI has been allegedly leaked in the screenshots supposedly from Xperia Z4 Dual. All the screenshots are taken from Dual SIM variant of Xperia Z4.

About phone screenshot of Xperia Z4 Dual shows it is running on Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 SoC, Android 5.0.2 Lollipop version, 3.10 Kernel version and firmware build starting from 28.X.

Wireless & Networks settings shows Dual SIM settings and almost similar icons as present in KitKat firmware but with a whiter UI as expected. Navigation keys present in the screenshot we have seen earlier also many times.

If you notice clearly Sony is using network and Wi-Fi icon similar to stock Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM which we earlier reported when the same icons were spotted in Sony’s Facebook, Twitter app for SmartEyeglass screenshots which gave us an initial preview of Sony’s new material design UI, check out the screenshots below.

It may happen now Sony giving directly Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update to Xperia “Z” series skipping Android 5.0 ( as the screenshots are from Android 5.0.2 showing it has already been baked ).

Xperia E4 was recently launched along with its dual SIM variant. Xperia E4 features 5″ qHD IPS display 540 x 960 resolution packed in a 137 x 75 x 10.5 mm frame, powered by MediaTek MT6582 chipset 1.3 GHz quad core, Mali-400MP2 GPU with Android 5.0 Lollipop coming out of the box.

Xperia M2 Dual D2302 getting 18.3.1.B.1.8 firmware update globally now – Android 4.4.4 KitKat

Xperia M2 Dual D2302 is getting a new 18.3.1.B.1.8 firmware update globally now, which was released earlier to selective regions only. This Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is confirmed in regions like Algeria, India etc.

No major visible changes noticed except new Xperia Notes app was seen in some regions. Users are confirming better performance and battery life. 18.3.1.B.1.8 firmware is available via PC Companion only and you need a computer to update it, no OTA seen yet.

Sony Walkman 8.5.A.2.10 app update rolling – Bug Fixing

Sony has updated its Walkman app to newer version 8.5.A.2.10 from older 8.5.A.2.8 version. At present Sony Walkman is the only app among Sony media apps which has full material design UI. Yesterday Sony updated its Movies app to 8.0.A.0.8 version which brought material design icon to the app instead of UI.

Sony Walkman 8.5.A.2.10 app update is confirmed on all Xperia “Z” series handsets and even some Android 4.3 running Xperia handsets. Update brings usual bug fixing and performance enhancement.

Sony SR-64HXA 64 GB microSDXC card insanely priced at $155

Sony has launched a 64 GB microSDXC card (Class 10) “SR-64HXA” with a tagline “for premium sound”, pricing it insanely at 18500 Yen/$155. A few days ago Sony also launched “NW-ZX2” Walkman for $1200 and by seeing the price it seems this micro SD card is made for NW-ZX2 and other Hi-Res audio users.

Sony says SR-64HXA card delivers the best sound quality with minimum noise when it is being read. It is expected to hit Japanese market around 5 March, globally availability is not known yet.

Sony SmartWatch 3 Android 5.0.2 LWX49K build update rolling

Sony SmartWatch 3 users are now reporting new Android 5.0.2 update in form of LWX49K build over previous Android 5.0.1 LWX84P build. It seems only a minor update, confirmed in regions like Malaysia, France, USA, Mexico.

SmartWatch 3 Android 5.0.2 LWX49K build update seems to bring minor changes to Google Play Services. Android 5.0.2 SmartWear update has also been confirmed on Moto 360 and LG G Watch R.

Sony has updated its Movies app to newer 8.0.A.0.8 version from older 8.0.A.0.6 version which now brings material design icon to the app ( but no material design UI so far ). Earlier Sony updated its Walkman to 8.5.A.2.7 version which officially brought material design UI to the app.

On left headset of Sony SBH60 we have power button, LED light, microphone, volume up/down button, call take/end button, micro USB port, 3.5 mm connector port and NFC.

Below you can see 3.5 mm jack port and volume keys.

How to Pair it ?

It supports one connect pairing via Bluetooth & NFC. To power on, Sony SBH60 Bluetooth Stereo Headset, press the power button ( present on left headset ) for 5 seconds. LED light present beside it will glow to green once your device is paired.

Download Sony Smart Connect app to check the battery status of the headset including music playback and standby time. Creating dedicated events functionality is also available via Smart Connect app.

Bluetooth range is usual 10 meters for the headset.

Use the 3.5 mm headset connecting cable which is given inside the box if you want to use headset as wired.

How to Charge it ?

It supports charging via micro USB connector only. Connect the AC Adapter to it, red light glows once charging starts and green light glows once it is charged fully.

It takes around 30 minutes ( less than even ) to charge fully via 1.5A Sony AC Adapter, which in Sony’s Smart Connect app shows around 17 hours of music playback time ( which is completely false ). It can also be charged via PC ( connecting with USB cable ).

With the presence of microphone very near in left headset and with HD voice technology, call quality is great. Caller on other end gets very crisp and clear voice.

Sony has updated its TrackID app to newer 4.1.B.0.14 version from older 4.1.B.0.12 version. Sony TrackID 4.1.B.0.14 app brings same old changelog like previous version; material design UI, big fixes, faster recognition speed and support for Android Wear.

TrackID is Sony’s official app to identify the music track playing. It need internet connectivity to find the tracks. Sony TrackID app works on all Xperia handset running Android 4.2+. ( works on Android 4.1 also for a few handsets )

Sony has updated its another app with Android Lollipop support i.e. Sony Account Manager app to new version 2.3.5 from older 2.3.2 version. Sony Account Manager app is integrated with all Sony media apps and is used to sign in to Sony Entertainment Network account on your device.

Sony’s MWC 2015 conference expected to be on 2 March, Barcelona

Mobile World Congress Event is near now, it is scheduled between 2-5 March 2015 in Barcelona. Sony’s MWC Conference is expected to be on 2 March as revealed now. Recently at CES 2015 Sony launched stainless steel edition of SmartWatch 3, Sony NW-ZX2 Walkman and Sony stated the timings of Android 5.0 Lollipop update release.

Sony Mobile Communications AB, Sony Europe Limited and Sony Developer World will be present at MWC 2015 event. Last year we saw flagship Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M2 coming at MWC 2014 event but what is expected this year, let’s see.

Sony AR Effect “Horror” Theme has got an update in form of version 1.1.2 which brings “new theme loading animation while switching between themes, 3D object stretching issues fixed on some Xperia devices, application screen icons for theme apps removed” and performance enhancement ( as the changelog reads on Play Store ).

Sony AR Effect “Horror” Theme v1.1.2 requires AR Effect app version > 3.1.1 and Xperia handset running atleast Android 4.3+ version. Earlier today Sony launched another AR Effect “Jungle” theme.
