Xperia Z2 23.2.A.1.62 firmware update rolling

Xperia Z2 23.2.A.1.62 firmware update is now rolling but only on limited carriers like T-Mobile AT, Telekom.de, Cosmote in regions like Austria, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Macedonia, Netherlands, Poland, and Slovak Republic. This build has already been rolled on Xperia “Z3” series.

23.2.A.1.62 firmware was certified for both Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet and now also rolling on Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521 on the same carriers. It is not clear for the time being whether this update will hit global variants of Xperia Z2 series or not.

23.2.A.1.62 firmware update is a bug fixing Android 5.0.2 update over previous 23.1.A.1.28 build. 23.2.A.1.62 firmware is also live via XperiFirm tool for D6503.

Sony Xperia Keyboard 6.6.A.0.30 app updated – Larger Spacebar, Phonepad layout, Numeric row added

Sony Xperia Keyboard app has been updated to newer 6.6.A.0.30 version over older 6.4.A.1.24 version. Sony rolled so many different versions of Xperia Keyboard on Lollipop updates like 6.6.B.0.11 version on Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3 Lollipop firmware and 6.6.A.0.28 version on Xperia Z Lollipop update.

Xperia Keyboard 6.6.A.0.30 app has been updated on Play Store officially now. The new update brings larger spacebar for easier typing, numeric row for the input of numbers on tablets, new language support for Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Georgian, and Tatar and Phonepad layout for Xperia Z2. It is compatible with Xperia devices running Android 4.4+.

Sony has now rolled Android Lollipop 5.0.2 update on all the devices it mentioned earlier. For all those users who think that the headset sound in their Xperia is not enough, now you can try Dolby Digital+ and Beat Sound Mod for Xperia Lollipop devices.

Dolby Digital+ and Beat Sound Mod will increase the bass in headphone mode and sound quality is great as per the testers. Remember this mod is only for headphones, not for speakers. It works on rooted Xperia devices with custom recovery installed.

Xperia C4 Dual is 150.3 x 77.4 x 7.9 mm in dimensions, weighing 147 grams and a 2600 mAh battery. Sony Paper Puppets AR Effect Theme launched

Sony has officially released a new AR Effect Camera app theme viz. Paper Puppets on Play store today. Paper Puppets theme allows you to add lots of paper characters on the pictures and videos you shoot. You can also add stickers created from Sony Sticker Creator app.

You need version v3.3.13 of AR Effect App or the higher one (get AR Effect app here) to install the Paper Puppets AR Effect theme. App will only work with Sony Social Smart Camera app installed on Xperia devices running Android 4.3+.

Install Xperia Z4 & Z3+ Home 8.1.A.0.4 app with Auto Rotation and Change Icon Size Feature

Sony recently rolled Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on Xperia Z and we saw that Xperia Home now supports auto-rotation (Home 8.1.A.0.2) but the same feature with change icon size was spotted on Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z3+ and it has been ported now.

Now Xperia Z4 & Z3+ Home 8.1.A.0.4 app with Auto Rotation and Change Icon size feature is available for download on rooted Xperia devices running Android Lollipop.

Xperia Home App

Xperia Home 8.1.A.0.4 app is only for rooted devices, it will not install on non-rooted devices. Non-rooted users can install Xperia Home 8.1.A.0.1 version without the auto rotation feature.

Google has finally unveiled Android M developer preview yesterday at Google I/O 2015 and some news features like dark system theme UI, pick and choose app permissions, Android Pay, fingerprint support, Now on Tap etc. have been spotted.

Recently we spotted that Android M also supports multi-window mode so that one can keep different activities on the same screen at the same time. Now as Android M preview images are out, Android M apps have been ported for Lollipop running devices.

You need Android Lollipop running device to install Android M launcher, we tested it on Xperia Z2, Z3, working on non-rooted devices also.

To install Android M Launcher on your device, you need two files posted below. After installing below-posted two files, set Google Now Launcher as your default launcher. App drawer is now arranged alphabetically.

Which Xperia devices will get Android M Update?

Google has released Android M developer preview yesterday at Google I/O 2015 and some interesting features have been spotted so far like dark system theme UI, pick and choose app permissions, Android Pay, fingerprint support, Now on Tap etc.

Google will release Android M update to end users later this year whereas developer preview images have been released so far for a few selected Nexus devices.

Xperia devices and Android M updates

Sony has just finished updating its Xperia “Z” series to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update and rolled it on Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 also.

Now when Xperia users are waiting for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, let’s discuss the most important question right now i.e. Which Xperia devices will get Android M update in future?

Keep in mind we are just discussing here Android M update future on Xperia devices, don’t take it as an official statement.

Devices definitely getting Android M Update: Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z3+ Dual.

Devices which should also get Android M Update: Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Dual (T-Mobile Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Verizon) Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia A4.

Devices which should also be updated to Android M as per our view: Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1s, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z Ultra.

Devices which may or may not get Android M Update: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z; as these Xperia devices are more than 2 years old and Sony is still supporting them (so their future support is not clear right now).

If Sony updates Xperia Z, ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z on Android M then it will definitely come on Xperia T2 Ultra, Xperia C3, Xperia M4 Aqua, Xperia E4 (Xperia T3, not sure unless Android Lollipop update is released for it).

Android M update future for Xperia E3, Xperia M2, Xperia E1 is not a question for the time being as Sony still has not given any hint for Android Lollipop update for these devices.

Sony explains the logic behind using name Xperia Z3 Plus, instead of launching Xperia Z4 globally

Sony Mobile launched Xperia Z3+ and Xperia Z3+ Dual two days back and the then users are asking why Sony has changed the name from Xperia Z4 to Xperia Z3 Plus for the global launch. Well, an official word from Sony has come on the same now.

As per the Sony officials, Xperia Z3 is performing well in many regions of the world but there was a need of new device with latest specifications of a flagship in Japanse market that can satisfy customers there and hence Xperia Z4 was introduced in Japan whereas it as, a new premium edition to Xperia Z3 series i.e. Xperia Z3+ is launched globally.

Logic behind using name Xperia Z3 Plus

“The main reason for the name difference here is down to Sony being such a dominant force in the Japanese market [where] consumers crave flagship devices with the latest features as soon as they can be delivered,” the firm explained.

“Xperia Z3 continues to perform well as our flagship device across the rest of the world. To address those customers that would like to have the very latest features and refinements, we have introduced Xperia Z3+ as a premium addition to our existing flagship Z3 series.”

As for the H1 2015 Sony unveiled Xperia Z4 and Xperia Z3+ so we can hope for Xperia Z5 as the next full fledge flagship and just not a slight upgrade over its predecessor in H2 2015.

SmartWatch 3 Android Wear 5.1.1 update is rolling in the form of build 1.1.1.1929530, Google Play Service 7.3.36. Sony SmartWatch 3 has Wi-Fi connectivity option, so now connecting SW3 to a Wi-Fi network will enable you to send messages, use apps; no matter where your phone is (it must have data connection), so no need for a permanent Bluetooth connection for pairing it.
