Xperia M2 18.3.1.A.1.9, M2 Dual 18.3.1.B.1.10 firmware certified

Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Dual have got new firmware certified at PTCRB after a long time. 18.3.1.A.1.9 firmware is certified for Xperia M2 and 18.3.1.B.1.10 firmware is certified for Xperia M2 Dual. Looking at the firmware build, both firmware seems to be Android 4.4.4 KitKat, minor bug fixing update only.

Sony has not disclosed its plan for rolling Android Lollipop update for Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Dual yet, so far Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update is available only for Xperia Z1 series, Z Ultra, Z2 & Z3 series and for Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3, it was released a few days back only.

Xperia M2 Dual D2302 getting 18.3.1.B.1.8 firmware update globally now – Android 4.4.4 KitKat

Xperia M2 Dual D2302 is getting a new 18.3.1.B.1.8 firmware update globally now, which was released earlier to selective regions only. This Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is confirmed in regions like Algeria, India etc.

No major visible changes noticed except new Xperia Notes app was seen in some regions. Users are confirming better performance and battery life. 18.3.1.B.1.8 firmware is available via PC Companion only and you need a computer to update it, no OTA seen yet.

Xperia M2 18.0.C.1.17 firmware, M2 Dual 18.0.B.1.25 firmware certified

A new 18.0.C.1.17 firmware has been certified for Xperia M2 D2303, D2306 and for Xperia M2 Dual D2302 18.0.B.1.25 firmware has been certified on PTCRB. It is the second firmware certification for Xperia M2 after 18.0.A.1.33, 18.0.C.1.15 firmware. Sony has launched the Xperia M2 and Xperia M2 Dual now in many markets across the globe.

Xperia M2 18.0.C.1.17 firmware and Xperia M2 Dual 18.0.B.1.25 firmware seems only a minor bug fixing update as compared to present firmware versions. No certainty is there on the release of both certified firmwares yet as both handsets still have not been released in some regions so it could be the retail firmware for those regions when the launch takes place.

Xperia M2 Dual to be available in India for Rs 21990, 25 April onwards

Sony has officially launched Xperia M2 Dual in India today at a price tag of Rs 21990 i.e. €263, £216, $363 which is very close to the price of Xperia T2 Ultra Dual in India i.e. Rs. 25990 ( $425, £256, €305 ). Xperia M2 Dual will be available 25 April 2014 onwards across all Sony stores, Xperia Flagship stores and other major retail electronic stores in India.

Xperia M2 features 4.8″ qHD Display, Snapdragon 400 SoC 1.2 GHz quad core processor ( MSM8926 / MSM8226 ) with Adreno 305 GPU. Xperia M2 weighs 148 grams and 8.6mm thick. Dual SIM as well as single SIM variants of Xperia M2 are officially launched by Sony globally. Only 3G variant of Xperia M2 Dual will be available in India for purchase in Black, Purple and White colors.

Xperia M2 Dual sports 8 MP rear cam with Sony’s Social Smart Camera app with apps like Social Live, TimeShift Burst, Picture Effect. Xperia M2 Dual users in India will be able to redeem a special voucher to download 3 blockbuster movies from Xperia Lounge app. Garmin Xperia Edition app will be soon available on Xperia M2 Dual as per Sony’s statement recently.

Sony came up with Xperia M2 at MWC 2014 event which is yet another Sony’s mid range smartphone besides Xperia T2 Ultra / Dual for year 2014. Xperia M2 features 4.8″ qHD Display, Snapdragon 400 SoC 1.2 GHz quad core processor ( MSM8926 / MSM8226 ) with Adreno 305 GPU. Xperia M2 weighs 148 grams and 8.6mm thick and has a pretty good build design.

Xperia M2 packs 8 MP rear cam, HD video recording, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage and external SD card support up to 32 GB. It is LTE enabled and has 2300 mAh battery. Let’s see what Xperia M2 holds with some Xperia M2 hands on photos and a preliminary review.
