Xperia SP Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.263 firmware certified – Final Build

Yesterday we saw Sony tweeting regarding an ETA for android 4.3 roll out on Xperia SP at the end of Jan or in early Feb 2014 after two android 4.3 firmwares were already certified on PTCRB from which one was removed later. Well it seems now another new Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.263 firmware is certified on PTCRB page and we hope it is the final build of which Sony mentioned in tweet.

Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.263 firmware is certified for all Xperia SP variants C5302 / C5303 / C5306, this would be the third build to get certify; first being 12.1.A.0.253 firmware and second being 12.1.A.0.256 firmware from which we saw leaked 12.1.A.0.253 firmware ROM revealing what Sony has planned for Xperia SP users on android 4.3.

New Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.256 firmware Certified for Xperia SP again

Sony Xperia SP users are furious over Sony for delaying android 4.3 update, back in December we saw android 4.3 12.1.A.0.253 firmware being certified for all variants of Sony Xperia SP and then later an alleged about phone screenshot from android 4.3 12.1.A.0.252 firmware was leaked. When we asked Sony Xperia support on Twitter that what is the progress with android 4.3 update for Xperia SP, thy replied “work is still in progress“.

Well it seems Sony is rectifying some major bugs from previous certified firmware as again a new Android 4.3 12.1.A.0.256 firmware has been certified for Sony Xperia SP on PTCRB website. It seems the final android 4.3 build for Xperia SP and should come soon now.

Just now we have spotted that another firmware 12.0.A.2.254 has hit the Xperia SP both C5303 LTE and C5302 HSPA+ versions. Previously Xperia SP has 12.0.A.2.245  firmware, rolled in the month of August. 12.0.A.2.254  firmware was just seen on PTCRB as certified and here it comes now.

12.0.A.2.254 firmware, a bug fixing update only for Xperia SP is available on PC Companion / SUS and Bridge and rolled for both carrier networks as well as unbranded devices.

12.0.A.2.254 firmware update confirmed in Hungary, Pakistan, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Singapore and on O2 carrier in UK. Will soon roll in other regions also.

  • No UI Change, same visual as in old update.
  • Same as 766 MB RAM available again.
  • Wi-Fi range increased a bit for us.
  • Display colors looks more saturated now.
