Sony Stereo Microphone STM10 was officially unveiled at MWC 2014 with Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet. Sony Stereo Microphone STM10 is high sensitive type of audio recording device made up of aluminium frame and steel mesh; 90 degree tilt functioning is there so that you can record audio coming from any direction.

Sony Stereo Microphone STM10 Hands on Photos have arrived with a 4K sample taken from Xperia Z2 fitted with STM10 audio mic. 4K sample video has kind low voice may be due to firmware issues as Sony is still updating the firmware for official launch in market, hopefully in April.

STM10 beta recording app is also spotted whether it is official or not, can’t be said yet. 4 Audio recording quality is available under settings, the highest lossless 44kHz 16bit WAV.

Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet have seen till now 3 firmwares getting certified on PTCRB viz. 17.1.A.0.504 firmware, 17.1.A.0.391 firmware and 17.1.A.1.2 firmware. We have seen system dump of 17.1.A.0.289 firmware of Xperia Z2 getting leaked and a few days back 17.1.A.1.2 firmware ftf was also leaked. Just now a new higher build in form of 17.1.A.2.36 firmware is spotted on PTCRB.

17.1.A.2.36 firmware has been certified for both Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet on PTCRB for all variants which are listed so far. Sony unveiled the new KitKat firmware on Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet at MWC 2014 and it will come out of the box when these 2 devices launches officially in April 2014.

Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet, E1, T2 Ultra Dual added in Sony Update Service Software

Sony announced Xperia E1 / E1 Dual and Xperia T2 Ultra / T2 Ultra Dual after CES 2014 event in mid Jan 2014 while Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet, the new flagship devices launched at MWC 2014 event. Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet is already on pre-order across many regions in Europe and Xperia E1 has also been priced in Europe but not available for pre-order yet while Xperia E1 Dual launched in India. Xperia T2 Ultra / T2 Ultra Dual has already been launched in India many weeks ago.

Seeing that all above mentioned devices are about to be launched in many regions across the world, Sony has added Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet, E1, T2 Ultra Dual in Sony Update Service Software so that they can now be officially updated when they are out in market, it also indicates that launch in on track now.

Xperia Z2 vs Xperia Z1 Camera Comparison – Xperia Z2 shows less noise in pics

Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1 though seems very similar but in terms of specifications and features Sony has tweaked many new features in Xperia Z2. Xperia Z2 supports S801 SoC, Adreno 330 GPU, 3 GB RAM, dual Stereo Speakers, better notification light, larger 5.2″ FHD display with Live Color LED tech and new camera app with features like 4K Video recording and TimeShift video app with slow motion feature.

While Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z1 features same 20.7 MP rear cam Sony “G” lens 1/2.3-inch sensor, it seems Sony has worked more on Xperia Z2 camera algorithm this time. Xperia Z1 users from starting are still complaining about too much noise in the pics and it seems Sony is now working on that domain seriously.
