Android 5.0.2 Lollipop has now started rolling on Xperia ZL also in the form of 10.6.A.0.454 firmware build. Xperia Z and Xperia ZR received the same Lollipop build yesterday and now Xperia Tablet Z is also getting it.

10.6.A.0.454 firmware update is confirmed on Xperia ZL C6502 in regions like Taiwan, USA and on C6506 in USA, Mexico (it has not been spotted on C6503 yet).

New 10.5.1.A.0.292 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Z Tablet on PTCRB today, probably bug fixing update over 10.5.A.0.233 firmware ( Android 4.4.4 update ). As 10.5.1.A.0.292 firmware is certified for all variants of Xperia Z, ZL, ZR, Z Tablet on PTCRB, we are expecting that it will be rolling soon.

Sony has already promised to bring Android 5.0 Lollipop update on Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Z Tablet in early 2015 and it is good to see that Sony is still maintaining the firmware update line for early members of Xperia Z series.

Android 4.4.2 KitKat Rolling for Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z1 Compact – Sony confirms

A very good news for all Sony Xperia fans, Sony Mobile has just now confirmed that Android 4.4.2 KitKat roll out has started for Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact. No exact build number is included in the post but we expect either 14.3.A.0.681 or 14.3.A.0.747 firmware to come on Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra handsets as KitKat firmware.

Sony has also mentioned that they will be rolling android 4.4.2 KitKat for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z and Xperia ZR in mid Q2 2014 and Xperia T2 Ultra / Dual, Xperia E1 and Xperia M2 will also be upgraded to android 4.4.2 KitKat but no specific date for rollout mentioned yet.

In the middle of android 4.3 update crisis for Xperia SP, T, V and TX; Sony has just rolled a new bug fixing android 4.3 10.4.1.B.0.101 firmware update for Xperia Z, Xperia ZR and Xperia ZL officially. A few days ago 14.2.A.1.136 firmware update was rolled for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra and this new 10.4.1.B.0.101 firmware brings similar improvements. Sony rolled first android 4.3 10.4.B.0.569 firmware for Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z.

Sony Mobile has just tweeted that they are rolling 10.4.1.B.0.101 firmware for Xperia Z, ZL and ZR and for Xperia Tablet Z ETA will be told new week. In the changelog of 10.4.1.B.0.101 firmware update, they mentioned “brings BT connectivity, battery, YouTube app improvements & more“.

We have not seen any user getting 10.4.1.B.0.101 firmware update till now, it seems it is still seeding and gradual rollout will be done soon depending upon the regions. Sony releases Android 4.4.1 AOSAP binaries for Xperia L,S,Z,ZL,Tablet Z

Officially it might take very long to get android 4.4 KitKat update on already mentioned Xperia devices from Sony but Xperia devices have recently got love from many developers. XDA devs have contributed for almost every Xperia device to get unofficially CyanogenMod 11 Android 4.4 KitKat build on them even the 2011 Xperia devices have got it.

In past Sony has released AOSP binaries for Xperia Z, ZL and Tablet Z and now Xperia L and Xperia S have been added to the list. Yes Sony has officially released Android 4.4 AOSAP binaries for Xperia L, S , Z, ZL, Tablet Z. Build available is KRT16O.S3.1044 ( android 4.4 KitKat ).

It’s only a minor bug fixing update as the build number has just increased by a decimal point. Check for a notification in update center as shown below.

As December has come and Xperia users are eagerly waiting for the android 4.3 update to come on already decided Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR, Tablet Z, SP and TX, T and V. We previously posted that Xperia Z1 C6903 and Xperia Z Ultra C6833 will feature same android 4.3 build 14.2.A.0.290 firmware ( or 14.2.A.0.2XX ) and Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z will feature new android 4.3 10.4.B.X.XXX firmware build and what we saw today is some screenshots of Xperia ZL Android 4.3 10.4.B.X.XXX firmware have leaked.

Someone allegedly posted Xperia ZL Android 4.3 10.4.B.X.XXX firmware screenshots at BBS.GFAN showing the about phone, lockscreen, home launcher, memory. As we have already posted on Nov 26 that 10.4.B.X.XXX build is about to come and after seeing these screenshots, it seems legit ones.

It is clearly visible that UI has gone white exactly what Xperia Z1 sports in android 4.2.2 firmware which was already expected that Xperia Z, ZL, ZR and Tablet Z may get same UI as Xperia Z1 sports.

As android 4.4 plans for Xperia devices confirmed by Sony just now stating that Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1 and Tablet Z are the first batch of devices which will get android 4.3 KitKat update soon, though no ETA is given. As Sony promised earlier about rolling android 4.3 jelly bean update soon, here comes the official news.

Sony Mobile has just now confirmed that Android 4.3 Coming in December on Xperia Z1, Z Ultra, Z, ZL, ZR, Tablet Z, SP. As Sony said that some devices will be updated directly from android 4.1.2 to android 4.3 so the next batch of devices getting android 4.3 will be Xperia T, TX and Xperia V. Though it is a big deal if see android 4.3 coming for all above mentioned devices in December only.

Most awaited news from Sony Mobile has just came up about android 4.4 KitKat update on Xperia devices, it is now CONFIRMED that Android 4.4 KitKat for Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z will come very soon thought it is not expected this year obviously due to scheduling of android 4.3 update in December.

Sony Mobile as announced on their official blog that Xperia Z, ZL, Z Ultra, Z1, Tablet Z will be getting android 4.4 KitKat updates in future though no ETA has be given yet. Strange to see that Xperia ZR has not been named yet, may be they will do in future or they won’t it still remains a mystery.

How to Root Xperia Z, ZL, ZR on 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware by DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit v18

Sony has now officially rolled out 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware for Xperia Z, ZL and ZR which brings display, camera, battery fixes & performance tweaks to these devices. Only for now Xperia Z Tablet is left and very soon it will also be updated with same 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware.

As you all know Sony has patched the perf_event exploit from 10.3.1.A.0.244 firmware onwards so in order to root the devices one need to use the older rootable firmware kernels as mentioned by legendary XDA Developer DooMLoRD.

How to Root Xperia Z, ZL, ZR on 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware

Works on both Locked as well as UnLocked Bootloaders.

Enable USB Debugging and unknown sources option on your phone before proceeding. Do not use other kit version except V18.

Download Flashtool, Open it. Flash the “XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.A.0.423_Generic_NL.f tf” file on your Xperia Z. It is the kernel of an old firmware of Xperia Z which was rootable.
Reboot your Xperia Z after flashing. Connect to PC in USB Debugging mode.
Do not forget to close FLASHTOOL. CLOSE FLASHTOOL , before proceeding next step or you will get serious error.
Extract the downloaded “DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip” file and run the “runme_win” file.
Follow onscreen instructions to root Xperia Z and once it is rooted, device will reboot. Verify that you are rooted, run SuperSU app.
Now switch off your Xperia Z. OPEN FLASHTOOL.
Now you need to flash “XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.1.A.2.67.ftf” file in order to get back the true kernel of Android 4.2.2 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware of Xperia Z.
After flashing, disconnect the phone from PC, reboot it and your Xperia Z is now rooted and we are done with Root Xperia Z Android 4.2.2 10.3.1.A.2.67 firmware steps.

10.3.1.A.2.67 Firmware update keeps Xperia ZL on Android 4.2.2 only and is confirmed rolling on C6506 ( LTE North America version ) and C6503 ( LTE Europe / Asia version ) of handset.
