Sony E5503 “Lavender” specs leaks – To feature MT6752 Mediatek SoC, FHD Display

A new Sony device “Sony Lavender” aka “Sony E5503” is about to hit markets soon, it seems. Sony E5503 info has been leaked just now via @UpLeaks. Sony Lavender E5503 is expected to feature Mediatek MT6752 64 bit Octa-Core processor and 1080p resolution.

Sony E5503 “Lavender” has Type Number PM-0861-BV and is running 29.x firmware (hopefully Android Lollipop). It seems Sony is gearing up for another mid-range Xperia device powered by MediaTek SoC. Leaked Sony Cosmos (aka Xperia C4) is also expected to feature MediaTek SoC.

Xperia Z3 Video Teaser Released #XperiaDetails

Sony Mobile has officially released a teaser video which clearly shows that 3 Xperia devices probably Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will be unveiled at IFA 2014 event, Berlin on 3 Sept 2014.

Xperia Z3 Video Teaser says “The time to Demand Great is coming” with a tagline “It’s in the #XperiaDetails”. This is the first announcement by Sony before the IFA 2014 event about its upcoming devices.

Below you can see the Xperia Z3 Video Teaser released by Sony.

Some numbers are shown in the video i.e. 07:MM:06:14, 8C:u:1:28:00, 03:06:H2:00, 03:SE:PT:14 which clearly means 3 Sept 2014; while the meaning of other number can’t be interpreted correctly for the time being.

By looking at below it is clearly visible that Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will either have 7″ or 8″ display panel.

There is also a rumor that we may see Sony SmartWatch SW3 at IFA 2014 ( but not confirmed surely at present ). We will soon share the link of live streaming for IFA 2014 Sony press conference event.

Xperia Z2 Tablet hands on photos and preliminary KitKat UI review

Sony launched the new flagship Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet at MWC 2014 which took over the legacy of Xperia Z1 and Xperia Tablet Z. Xperia Z2 Tablet is such a huge improvement over its predecessor in terms of design, specifications and performance. Sony has already listed Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet for pre-order in Europe and it is soon expected to hit other regions of world.

Xperia Z2 Tablet features 10.1″ FHD Triluminos display with live color LED, Snapdragon 801 SoC MSM8974AB 2.3 GHz quad core processor, 3 GB RAM, Adreno 330 GPU, 6.4mm thick, weighs around 426g for Wi-Fi/439g for LTE model which Sony has tagged as ‘world’s slimmest and lightest waterproof tablet’ so far. Xperia Z2 Tablet will features new android 4.4.2 KitKat UI out of the box and has 16 GB internal storage with SD card support upto 64 GB depending upon the 3 different variants of the tablet i.e 16 GB and 32 GB Wi-Fi model and 16 GB LTE model.

Xperia Z2 has been announced officially and just a few days after its launch we saw Xperia Z2 System Dump from 17.1.A.0.289 firmware Android 4.4.2 KitKat getting leaked and at the very same moment developers started porting apps from Xperia Z2 System Dump to other Xperia smartphones. We have already seen Xperia Z2 Smart call handling feature getting ported on Xperia Z1, Z1 Compact and for some users it worked on other handsets like Xperia SP and Xperia Z also.

Just now XDA dev xperiaz2 has made Xperia Z2 Social Camera apps Addons port for many Xperia smartphones. It includes apps viz. Creative Effects, AR Effect 2.0.4 , Background Defocus 1.1.7. Some works on rooted handsets and some work on non rooted handsets so you need to have CWM to install below port. If ROM is deodexed it would be great.

Xperia Z2, Z2 Tablet KitKat 17.1.A.1.2 firmware certified on PTCRB

Recently we saw two android 4.4.2 KitKat 17.1.A.0.504 firmware and 17.1.A.0.391 firmware getting certified on PTCRB for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet which clearly indicates that launch of Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet and Xperia KitKat firmware is almost near. Just now we spotted another 17.1.A.1.2 firmware certification on PTCRB.

17.1.A.1.2 firmware has been certified for Xperia Z2 D6502 HSPA+ and D6503 LTE versions and for Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521 and SGP541 on PTCRB page. 17.1.A.1.2 firmware will bring android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box on Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet when it is launched officially with many new awesome Xperia KitKat features which we saw in number of leaks.

What Sony has to say on Samsung making Galaxy S5 Water-Dust Resistant ?

Sony launched its flagship device Xperia Z2 for first half of year 2014, successor of Xperia Z1 and Samsung launched its new flagship device Galaxy S5 at MWC 2014 which interestingly has IP 67 certification for dust and water resistant. Well starting from Xperia Z, Sony has implemented the water and dust resistant certification in many devices and now it has become a signature feature of Sony’s flagship smartphones and tablets. Well on the other hand Samsung has made its flagship device dust and water resistant for the first time.

CNET asked a couple of questions to Sony Executives in US on what Sony has to say on Samsung making Galaxy S5 Water-Dust Resistant. Let’s check out the conversation…

“We started the waterproof trend”, “We’re not worried about it.” Ravi Nookala, head of Sony’s US mobile division told to CNET.

At Sony Mobile press conference MWC 2014, Kazuo Hirai, CEO Sony Corp. said he believes in “One Sony” and now it is the most important factor for Sony Corp.

As users are getting aware of water and dust resistant phones, it will eventually benefit Sony and Xperia Z line; said Nookala and Calum MacDougall, director of product marketing for the Xperia franchise.

“It starts a dialogue for waterproof and helps us tell our story,” MacDougall quoted.

Marking the Xperia Z1S water resistant feature they mentioned at present there are 700 T-Mobile Stores in US where Sony workers demonstrates users that how Xperia Z1S can survive under water ( by putting it in a water tank ) also and can shoot photos and videos easily. Ravi Nookala mentioned that users will ask the same question about Galaxy S5’s water resistant nature.

An interesting statement was quoted by MacDuugall on Sony Mobile launching mid range Xperia M2, that they don’t want to go cheap and damage the brand.

“Our focus is to secure value, not volume,” MacDougall said.

Well whatever is the case, users have to decide in the end which brand to choose and which device as companies can do any type of marketing regarding their devices but customer is king always.

Something extraordinary from Sony has officially been unveiled at MWC 2014 in form of Xperia Z2, the successor which takes over the legacy of Xperia Z1. Sony also launched Xperia Z2 Tablet along with Xperia M2. Well no wonder Sony has only facelifted some features in Xperia Z1 as when compared to Xperia Z2.

Sony has launched a new mid range device Xperia M2 at MWC 2014 along with flagships Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet. Xperia M2 features 4.8″ qHD Display, Snapdragon 400 SoC 1.2 GHz quad core processor ( MSM8926 / MSM8226 ) with Adreno 305 GPU. Xperia M2 weighs 148 grams and 8.6mm thick. We were expecting Xperia M2 to be priced somewhere between $350-$400 and here it comes.

Xperia M2 is available for pre-order in Germany at a base price of €279 / $343 / £230 from Amazon.de. Xperia M2 is not listed on Sony’s official online shopping stores in Europe yet, though it is priced a bit expensive but Sony has also priced Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet a bit expensive in starting for pre-orders. As per Sony we may see Xperia M2 launch in markets in April 2014.

Sony announced Stereo Microphone STM10 at MWC 2014 exclusively along with Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet. Stereo Microphone STM10 is a specific high sensitivity microphone for true audio quality while shooting videos, available only in white color. Stereo Microphone STM10 comes with a 90 Degree tilt action so that it can be moved in the direction where audio source is located.

Stereo Microphone STM10 can be used with any Xperia smartphone which has 3.5mm headphone jack connector. Inside the box there is 1 microphone set and wind screen. It is made up of aluminium frame and stainless steel mesh.

Sony has announced an interesting headset during MWC 2014 event i.e. Digital Noise Cancelling Headset MDR-NC31EM for Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z2 Tablet exclusively though can be paired with any smartphone featuring 3.5mm headphone jack. Sony has featured Digital Noise Cancelling technology in Xperia Z2 which reduced the ambient noises up to 98% when paired with above DNC MDR-NC31EM headset.

Digital Noise Cancelling Headset MDR-NC31EM will be available in white and black color and for the time being they are under coming soon tag so no specific info is there on price, we expect them to be priced at around £60. Hands-free calling is also enabled which will only work if it is connected to 3.5 mm 5 pole audio-contact. 13.5 mm dynamic speaker type is used in DNC Headset MDR-NC31EM.

Users used to complain that Sony is not launching any official protective cases for their smartphones and now here they come. Sony has announced a special protective cover for Xperia Z2 i.e. Style Cover Stand SCR10. Style Cover Stand SCR10 is a ultra thin flip cover style case exclusively made for Xperia Z2, will be available in white and black color. It is a special notebook style case which can be used as a desk stand for perfect viewing.

Sony has also launched a separate Style Cover Stand SCR12 for Xperia Z2 Tablet. Style Cover Stand SCR10 is under coming soon tag on Sony’s online store and no info on the price of Style Cover Stand SCR10 is available for the time being. It should be priced somewhere between €40-€50 as it is an official Sony product. Perfect apertures are provided in the case for camera opening, stereo speakers and other ports.

Just like Xperia Z2 is priced differently in many regions of Europe same trend is being spotted for price of magnetic charging dock DK36.

This time Sony has insanely over priced Xperia Z2 which is almost $1000 if we calculate, as we all know in starting Sony always price their flagship device a bit costly. We are looking to see Xperia Z1 to come to Asia soon and guessing what it would cost in India as at present in India you can get Xperia Z1 at a price of 500$-550$ in various shops so pricing of Xperia Z2 will be competitive in India. Xperia Z2 price in India is still unknown but we expect it hit the same price tag at which Xperia Z1 was launched i.e. around Rs 40K to Rs 45K.

Xperia M2 features 4.8″ qHD Display, Snapdragon 400 SoC 1.2 GHz quad core processor ( MSM8926 / MSM8226 ) with Adreno 305 GPU. Xperia M2 weighs 148 grams and 8.6mm thick and has a build design pretty much similar to Xperia Z.

Xperia M2 packs 8 MP rear cam, HD video recording, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage and external SD card support up to 32 GB. It is LTE enabled and has 2300 mAh battery. Sony smart camera apps which was seen on flagship models will be present on Xperia M2 too. It will be shipped with Android 4.3 out of the box.
